Maintenance for the week of August 10:
• [COMPLETE] NA megaservers for patch maintenance – August 10, 4:00AM EDT (8:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EDT (16:00 UTC)
• [COMPLETE] EU megaservers for patch maintenance – August 10, 8:00 UTC (4:00AM EDT) - 16:00 UTC (12:00PM EDT)

Shortening / slightly changing maintenance schedule during (short) events

Its always a bit unfortunate when maintenance eats into an already shortened whiestrake mayhem... while everyone understands the need for maintenace it might be nice if we could try to have a shortened maintenance during events or maybe start / end maintenance 1-2 hours earlier so that at least servers are open again late afternoon, 15:00 utc latest...(16 utc is currently 6pm in most of Europe)...

Since the event ends wednesday most likely at 4pm before most ppl can log in, even shorter...

Nah, the banner was there yesterday, and I think it was there on Saturday but no 100% sure because... well, my memory is not in great shape.

Said that I agree with OP, now that Mayhem lasts only a week moving forward maybe the can work out a better maintenance schedule.

I half expected this response, so let me explain. I'm from Europe and only got to play in the morning yesterday, and the banner wasn't there. I only got to log in less than 24 hours later which is when I got this surprise. All I ask is for planned maintenance to be announced a bit earlier than less than 24 hours before it starts. Let's say 48 hours.

    Yes, please.

Perhaps the event can be extended by one day to compensate for today's long maintenance?

Ah, I think I misread your post.

If you are referring to the 'banner' that appears both on the launcher and on the login screen that is correct, it was not there yesterday morning (referring to CET/BST 'morning').

It only 'manifested' in the evening.

I was referring to the forum banner.

I'm curious about why they always need eight hours for 'maintenance'. At the infrastructure level, the downtime to patch or upgrade the network, OS, database or app tiers can be reduced by using High Availability options such as clustering or load balancing. Patch release cadence rarely lines up with ESO downtimes.

I've not noticed any patch notes released alongside a maintenance schedule, so we're not getting updates to the game itself. The only tangible thing I notice is that structure health in Cyrodiil is down to 75%.

Does anyone have any insight into why, it's always eight hours for seemingly no noticable difference? I will accept 'hamsters need a break, you heartless muppet'.

They can probably see maintenance coming and do not plan event during maintenance/do maintenance before every event to be sure it is running smooth.

That's correct. But two days later would have been fine, too. I think the event should be extended. It's unfair.

I did mean the forum banner. It wasn't there either I know, because I've made it a habit to take note and convert maintenace into my local timezone and put it in my ESO schedule planner. Crazy, but necessary with all the hoops they make us jump through nowadays.

Then it might have been a cache issue? because it was for me; I checked and I did make a comment on the discord yesterday morning (BST) to make other GMs aware of putting the trader bids in yesterday 'just in case'.

Regardless yes, I agree, given that these maintenances are unlikely to be scheduled in the 11th hour a bit more advance notice, even a 'maintenance calendar' people can refer to, would be nice.

Event's should cover 2 weekends. People want to participate but have plans or commitments on weekends. Being only one weekend at a time is limiting to the some of the player base.

    Stay safe 😀

I do not see why this event could not run for at least 2 weeks like it normally does. Due to it starting on Wednesday, I have only had 1 day to participate in it.

It does not give out anything extraordinary so it could even run for a month and not be a problem for the game.

From what I understand, they wanted to shorten the event and run it more frequently.

Don't quote me on this, but I feel like one of the ESO mouthpieces said they wanted to shorten it to a week so they could run it once a quarter.
