Torvesard - gear, skills

Uncle_Duke
I am struggling with Torvesard and seems to be unable to finish the zone story.

Perhaps someone can spot an obvious flaw in my setup and leave a comment. I am level 50 cp 180.

I have a combination of Mother's Sorrow and War Maiden, 5 pieces of each and all divines. My jewelry is all arcane.

My front bar is the perecise prismatic flame staff and my back bar is the precise spellshredder inferno staff.

Front bar is Elemental Susceptibility - Liquid Lightning - Crystal Fragments - Inner Light - Tormentor and Elemental Storm.

Back bar is Critical Surge - Boundless Storm - Blockade of Fire - Bound Armaments - Tormentor and Greater Atronach.

I usually go CS - BS - BoF and then ES - LL with the synergi and spam CF and back again BA - CS - BS - BoF and so forth.

How important is it that the back bar staff is infused instead of precise ? It counts for 2 items, so I automatically get the Offensive Penetration.

All your gear is 160 CP, right?
Also, does something one hit you in this fight?

Swap the positions of bound armaments and ele sus. I know you have crit surge, but maybe try matriarch instead of tormentor or hardened ward instead of liquid lightning.

PVE isnt a thing Ive focused on for many years now, so no comment regarding whatever fight this is.

But I wanted to point out that War Maiden :
(5 items) Adds 600 Weapon and Spell Damage to your Magic Damage abilities.

Unless I missed some patch notes regarding this, "Magic Damage" is not Fire damage, lightning damage, ice damage. it is "Magic Damage" and described as such, such as Crystal Fragments tooltip describes, as opposed to liquid lightnings "Lightning damage". So the War Maiden Set set is only buffing one of your many damage sources. and maybe you know this and really want big hitting frags, but swapping war maiden out for Orders wrath (generic crit chance and damage) or Julianos/hundings rage (flat 300 weapon/spell damage to all sources), or swapping to a defensive back bar set and slotting 2 pieces of trainee/druids for more magicka and health MIGHT serve you better.

It's a zone story questline which are completable even by brand new players just starting out on a fresh new character. So CP level and gear should be irrelevant. Usually making it a point to slot a self heal and or damage shield is key to simply allowing you to relax a bit and keep an eye out for the mechanics. NPC's tagging along for the ride usually make very relevant callouts that need to be followed, as they clue you in to key actions that need to be done (if not outright provide you with the weapon or tool required to advance).

I'm trying to remember this particular fight. Is this the fight where you jump through portals to assist your npc teammates while fighting in Apocrypha? I'm trying to recall the particulars of that encounter, but it's been some time now since I've completed it. But I do recall that when I completed it, it was the first storyline I played when I switched from PC to Playstation, and it was on my first character made with the new account which was a Sub 50 Necro before I even had any CP points.

After I've sipped my morning coffee a bit longer, I'll likely recall the mechanics for this particular encounter a bit more clearly.

First of all, thanks for helping, it's really nice.

Yes, and it is all purple. And no, I do seem to either run too slow or run out of space to escape to.

I suspected as much, but it is kind of a jungle to navigate the different sets and how they work. I am not able to craft at level 160 yet, but I do have some Symmetry of the Weald, Necropotence, Spellshredder and Mother's Sorrow. I will try yo combine them in a group delve in Craglorn, just me and my pet.

Yes, you do have to use the portals to help Berangor, Scroot and the soldier.
I will try Regenerative Ward or Hardened Ward and I could change Tormentor to Winged Twilight. It might be a good idea to have some healing instead of only CF.

If you're going to run a pet, you could also consider the other one. While you have to keep an eye on the Clamfear and hit it's attack periodically so it can regain health, it can do a pretty good job of pulling aggro from you so you can regen resources. Either one will be better than trying it solo with just the story quest NPCs, though.

I'm almost up to this fight on my second toon through the story, and I've noticed that sometimes the Ghost Sight activation circle gets dropped in awkward locations (like right under the boss, or in the middle of an active AoE). If that's the case, you might need to move around a bit and catch it the next time you get the call-out.

For gear, if you are in a guild there's a good chance someone will be able to craft a set for you as long as you supply the materials. If you're not in a guild, someone here might be willing to help if they're on the same server. (I'm on XB-NA)
