I'm just wondering which is the best choice for a new PC player, I've noticed there's different methods to buy ESO. I can keep using my xbox account with gamepass but I've heard the PC server has more people more addons, also what's the difference with getting ESO on Steam vs the ESO website?

I don't think it's generally a good idea to introduce a third party unnecessarily, it adds to the potential unreliability of the service. It isn't often that Steam logins or account transactions/subscriptions cause problems, but they do happen, so why take the risk when you can just deal direct with ZOS?

It's generally understood that a lot of players who theoretically play through Steam actually log in directly through the ZOS launcher so, again, I'm not sure why it's worth going through Steam in the first place. I'd certainly buy ESO through ZOS again if I were starting anew.

Not that I have anything against Steam, but I generally only use it for those games which can't be accessed directly through the developer.

Only older Steam Accounts can log in directly from the ZoS Launcher, newer accounts do not have that ability.

I would second what Tandor said and buy it directly from ZoS, Steam does have issues occasionally so why add an extra level of potential issues?

I bought the game and DLCs from ZOS but then also bought the base game on sale from Steam so I could play through there and still have access to everything that I have already purchased from ZOS after linking my Steam account. I also have the added benefit of being able to play through GeForce NOW with the Steam version.

Also, I personally prefer the ease of logging in through Steam without having to always type a password. Just my preference.
