Just reverse tri-focus back and buff empower to 200% imo instead
Disagree that it's in a good spot in PvP. I had a few 1-bar builds pre-subclassing but they simply cannot thrive in the current environment. Original Oakensoul would not have the same impact today as it did on its release. It's a very different environment. Major Force+Protection would be sensible imo since most players already have those buffs from Monomyth, so it's not like they'd be introducing a level of power that isn't already present in the environment, and Oak builds would still be hobbled compared to Monomyth setups since, of course, no backbar aka a major lack of utility and build density (effectively giving up an entire 5pc bonus due to no backbar.. or giving up a 2pc monster if you are using two 5pc sets, on top of having half the skills at your disposal).
It's not viable in this environment because subclassing made more skills available to players that actually make a difference versus classes like Templar that literallly had no real skills to bother slotting as a pure class.
Also, hard disagree about major buffs being added. Oakensoul already does more than a backbar would. The fact that it doesn't do more in all cases becuase of subclassing actually means that it's balanced for once.
And again, why should you be rewarded for an easier way out and less actions taken? PvP is all about buff uptime and the ring should give you all of those buffs up with no real downside besides losing a backbar?
Yeah, no. And before you claim that the loss of a backbar is a great loss, then why exactly are you using Oakensoul in the first place?
It's because in the context that you are using it, it isn't a loss. The ring shouldn't be in PvP at all IMO. And yet we have someone here actually trying to ask for a buff for it? Time to dial that opposition up to 100.
NO.
Agreed. I also have diabilities and would be awesome to actually be good to use it in group content and not just solo.
It was so amazing when it came out. Then after nerf it has been obsolete for me.

But again, what is preventing you from using one of the other Heavy Attack build mythics when in groups?
I think a lot of “I need my Oakensoul!!!!” people need to ask themselves why. Because then we can help you find a solution.
- But I need my Heavy Attack build because I can’t light attack constantly!
No problem. Oakensoul was useful for Heavy Attack builds because it gives permanent Empower, which buffs heavy attack damage. But 4 of the 7 Classes have a source of Empower in their kit, along with all Mages Guild skills and one 2H skill, not to mention a Scribed affix. Empower can be easily sourced.
The better Heavy Attack mythic is Rakkhat’s Voidmantle, which has a unique source of heavy attack bonus damage that stacks with Empower (so you get both buffs together). Building with that will allow higher damage as long as you can use other skills for Empower.- But I need my one-bar build because I can’t barswap constantly!
You don’t need a mythic for that. Just don’t swap to the backbar.
There are a bunch of skills now that put buffs when slotted on either bar, so between the Class Kit and Subclassing, anyone can have a full backbar of skills that are only there to give permanent buffs. Switching bars is then completely unnecessary.- But I need all my buffs because otherwise I will get hit by enemies and die!
This is what support roles are for.
The tank’s job is to grab the scary enemies and taunt them so they take the hits. The healer’s job is to keep you alive from the little hits from everything else. Both of them are there to give you the buffs that Oakensoul gives you so you don’t need to self-source them and can use that space for more damage.- But I can’t keep my buffs up because they have timers!
That is part of learning to play higher level content.
Even vanilla allows you to have timers on your skills, no addon needed there. But being knowledgeable about buff timers and when to cast skills is important for doing harder content. Everyone who does harder content had to learn that because it’s a basic skill, and practice makes perfect here.
It is not reasonable for anyone to just jump into hard modes with no preparation at all.
Many of the reasons people “need” Oakensoul are things that there are other, better, solutions for. But there are a lot of people who refuse point-blank to consider any other options.
In harder content, every player needs to build for the content. And part of that is realizing that Oakensoul is not the best choice. And even for players with disabilities, there are other options, you just need to use them.

This is fully and completely dismissive.
When putting on a mythic essentially places you at a maximum potential of HALF of the maximum damage possible (~110k versus 220k) AND the trade-off to that mythic (only 1 bar) is better circumvented on a DPS by basically running a 2 bar build and largely avoiding your backbar (resulting in more damage without Oakensoul, by a significant margin)… that’s a functionality and efficiency issue with that mythic (it doesn’t work like it should).

~110K DPS isn't the maximum damage an Oakensoul build can do, though. Here's a 139K parse with a Necromancer, for example:
Considering 190K DPS is the highest parse of a Necromancer with the Shooting Star ultimate I've seen , doing 139K with a simpler Oakensoul version of such a build doesn't really seem too bad to me. Not to mention that I'm far from a top parser myself, so others could easily do more DPS than I did.
Of course one could use the Huntsman's Warmask Mythic instead of Oakensoul, change the skill setup slightly and do 150K+ DPS with a one bar build (which I believe OP asked for). You'd then sacrifice your AOE damage and lose some buffs, though.
I do agree it needs buffed. I do not agree that it should be weaker than 2-bar builds. You give up a lot of optionality to run Oakensoul - I think you should be rewarded for committing to 1 weapon.
Someone brings proof and suddenly it doesn't count.

I know this is an unpopular take here on the forums, and I’m not saying Oaken shouldn’t or can’t be buffed, but there's a reason as to why one bar builds don't currently do the same DPS numbers as two bar builds, and that's because they're easier to play and require less effort and practice to get them to a level where they perform effectively. On a one bar build you don't have to worry about potentially 5 (five) back bar skill timers to keep track of, and if you're not using Oakensoul, you can just throw a bunch of slottable passive skills on the back bar and never swap, like people do when they run a one bar HA with Rakkhats Voidmantle.
Before some people try to argue this as a point I am very aware that 2 bar builds have gotten easier to play at a high level over the years, with things like Fatecarver or the reworked DK breath, but they still have many more skills to keep track of and have to bar swap regularly, and they still had to put in a lot of work to do that seamlessly or have good uptimes on their skills.
but if you not use Oakensoul play HA build, other mystic can do more better in one bar too, oaken in endgame only one advantage is empower buff and defense buffs(but dps most time not need them)BretonMage wrote: »To everyone saying, just use Rakkhat, please don't forget that not everyone uses Oakensoul for heavy attacking. Currently the number of "while slotted on either bar" buffs is quite limited.
And I still haven't seen any real arguments for why a build with fewer button presses must be so significantly less performant (OP has already said it doesn't need to compete with the meta builds), considering that this is a game that we are all paying customers in, and we are ALL pressing buttons for entertainment here. How does, outside of PVP, the way another player presses their buttons affect your game?
All the OP is asking for is a slight buff to keep up with the general DPS increases across the board. Seeing that Oakensoul is still a popular mythic, I don't see why not.

‘well a corpsebuster OS necro can…’ take out corpse buster necro. Parses remain top end 200k and OS is back down to ~110k. Not everyone can be a necro with pre-rework mastery passives, come on now.
Other than this MAYBE DK or I suppose some an exception (and not far of that original 110 number (quick search says 125k… which again is GREATLY removed from 200k).Rkindaleft wrote: »I do agree it needs buffed. Friend, let’s stop pretending like Arcanist is “hard” for a 2-bar build. This is a hilarious and running joke. This game is a horizontal gear MMO (meaning you’re going to be okay, take a breath) and most players aren’t hitting 220k. Increasing OS to 140-150 top end doesn’t immediately grant everyone this damage (in fact they are likely to pull 90-130, if that).
They have stated (and it is obvious) that 2-3 buttons per second should not be required for ‘good’ damage and ergo 110k/200k (adjusting for no-corpsebuster) I.E. half is NOT ‘good’ or even acceptable damage for the trade-off.

I use it mainly solo, so I definitely appreciate the defensive buffs there, but also appreciate Empower when I want to HA. I use HA for the regen, or when combat gets a bit overwhelming, the sticky DoT helps a lot.
There's another thread talking about wrist pain during HA, and I think the main thing I agree with there is that too much repetition can be physically straining, and I've found it feels better, and more fun, if I can mix up LA/skills with a good dose of HA.I think it's the playstyle that's popular, so people still like it and use it despite the slow slide in relevance. What about reducing defensive buffs per player you're grouped with?

I brought proof. This isn’t Rocket Science:
‘well a corpsebuster OS necro can…’ take out corpse buster necro. Parses remain top end 200k and OS is back down to ~110k. Not everyone can be a necro with pre-rework mastery passives, come on now.
Other than this MAYBE DK or I suppose some an exception (and not far of that original 110 number (quick search says 125k… which again is GREATLY removed from 200k).Rkindaleft wrote: »I do agree it needs buffed.
*toxic elitists who make up less than 1% of this game’s playerbase go brrrr
2 bar necro if no Corpsebuster, the dps loss is 10-15k
most player in meta build dps is 150-170k
130/170 not half,right?
Come on, let's be real, people. The reason a lot of players want an Oakensoul buff is so they can just do 160K damage by holding down one button, being lazy, and not putting effort into getting better. You see it in the whole conversation. People give them other one-bar options that are more powerful, but even that is too hard, or they make excuses as to why it doesn't work for them. Instead of hosting trials themselves and experiencing why certain raid groups don't want them, they blame everyone else for why they cannot do content with Oakensoul. Oakensoul is a selfish mythic, and it attracts selfish people who only think about themselves and expect the rest of the group to cater to them.
Btw, if you are disabled and use one-bar builds because of it, I am sorry that the game doesn't provide you with the tools to succeed. I genuinely hope that ZOS can change things so it becomes easier to handle the game, like setting changes, etc.
I am just not in favor of a general buff that gets abused by healthy people who are just lazy.

So you admit yourself 200k is top end.
OS necro (what that poster was referring to) is apparently 130k. So minus 10-15k equals ~115k.
And then (130k minus 15k) that 115k OS necro by your and prior poster’s logic (stating OS necro with Corpsebuster is 130k; you yourself stated it would be minus 10 to 15k without) is again:
115/200k…
Roughly half. As I said, woefully underperforming even by your own silly logic you tried to ‘catch’ me on. Smh~
