It is suggested to reduce the damage dealt by DK to players under the influence of battle spirit

HunterDawn
Is it a bit exaggerated to deal 40,000 damage in just two seconds?

It is only possible because the ult and whip bursts were timed with the delayed burst damage skills. This is a gameplay feature, not an exploit or cause for concern. Combos like this exist in classes with delayed skills.

I can accept this damage mechanism, but the problem is that the damage caused by DK is too high and disregards armor resistance, which is quite unfair

It is bypassing resistance because you got hit by Onslaught and DK in Corrosive or high pen build using TFS.

Also, while Corrosive is DK exclusive but Onslaught is not. So, Onslaught is a very common ult right now for all classes with crit meta back in the rotation after SPS nerf and you have to kite the person with that active like you do with DKs in Corrosive.

By being aware of when someone will go for their burst combo? Like, surely you saw the person preparing by charging up Core of Flame morph of their choice after their first Incinerate went off? That is one of the tells?

Do you always avoid the issue of high damage caused by DK and call the damage caused by DK my mistake? If you feel that the damage caused by DK is reasonable, please do not continue to reply to my post.

And he has the rights to give his opinion as well even if your the one started the tread. When you die of something that is clearly a skill issue and comes here crying, you cant blaim him. But if you want to continue die to mechs that would have been easly avoided then and dont wont to learn how to overcome it the go ahead, but then you shouldn’t be crying about it either..

Keep a medium range from the DK. Stay at the max distance where you can still strike back in melee range and continuously move backwards when they come forward. If they sprint towards you, they will burst -- just roll. If you are at the max melee range and roll at the right time, you will be out of the range of the AoE and avoid their burst completely, or even if you time it wrong avoid part of it.

And after that roll you should either recover or strike back / cc them with a ranged CC. Should be a morph of magic soul (Dazing Soul) that can fit and allow you to do that if you don't have any other method.

Beyond that, you have to not play in a predicatable way and be more chaotic. DK is winning versus you because they are the strongest class right now as long as there is ORDER. YOU need to add a chaotic element to even the playing field and disrupt that order. That can be anything, even something as small as utilizing Mage's Guild Volcanic Rune strategically to defend yourself or create an area of denial (or force them to waste CC pot to get you).

Small things like the above actually make a massive difference in whether or not a DK can kill you, how fast they can do it, and whether or not they will bother you again.

Alterantively, you can just fire siege.

Edited my post should go back to 5 meters. Dodge roll is 6 meters. So soon as you stand up you get hit anyways if not blocking instantly.

You are 100% right and people that can look at the current state of the PvP objectively will understand what you mean and see everything wrong about DK currently. Basically it is a carry class with a carry combo and carry CCs, that can carry anyone through PvP easily. There is DK that can carry you and then there are proc sets that can carry you.

But this is a fight we are not going to win because ESO PvP players just love playing on uneven fields and getting carried by the game. I once saw a comment in subreddit that explains everything perfectly: "It is as if PvP without cheesing is a big sin for these guys". And this is exactly the best description of ESO PvP community.

Even with around 5000 DPS, it is difficult to defeat DK in battle. DK's wings have the ability to accelerate itself, relieve self deceleration, control enemies, and immune to 50% ranged damage. This skill is almost the effect that only three skills can achieve. Deep breathing has unlimited resources to restore life and collateral damage effects, as well as unreasonable whip burst damage. I think this multifunctional skill system has seriously affected the balance of PVP. Either weaken DK's damage, or reduce DK's recovery ability. A profession with such a high burst cannot have strong self-protection ability. I can't imagine this situation has been going on for four months. And the explanation given by old players is that it only needs to avoid damage. lmao

And also to add the issue of the range of DK Dragon Wing skill, which I think is a ridiculous setting to repel enemies behind. It is more reasonable to control the range to the enemies in front of DK

Don't worry, all of what you've said ZOS has heard a lot. They don't care. They won't be nerfing DK because it will make streamers that run around a tower sad.

You point out something I learned the hard way recently with DK and it's true with werewolves as well.

Most everything you just explained is how not to die at the cost of resources. This doesn't work well when fighting an opponent that has almost unlimited sustain, good defense and high damage.

You're quickly at a point where you either have to escape or have better offensive pressure or die.

Most classes just don't have that same combination of defense and pressure at the same time.

It's not impossible to fight a DK, just really not balanced.

Also fossilize seems to like to burn server calculations with that new animation so good luck not getting stuck getting out of it which also creates great openings for whips more by being buggy then as intended I think.

Wow, another post complaining how ZOS is completely disregarding any balancing the game... and another bunch of smartypants recommending "pro tips" like to "be aware" when a DK is about to delete your character under 2 seconds.. yea.. because it is absolutely okay for a class to be able to crit 12-16k vs 30k+ armor and have infinite sustain and incredible heals. No problem with balancing here! No, its probably the wrongdoing of the 100+th poster on this forum and its just a mere coincidence more than half of related YouTube videos are about how OP DK is. The other half is WW tho. Bah! Doing PvP with a DK is like setting a 'toddler' difficulty.

Wow, another day ZOS not giving a flying damn regardless of the dozens of posts complaining about how messed up balancing is. They just outright ignore these posts, even when they are for PTS. I don't know why even I am wasting bits sending this comment... It's just sad that they don't seem to play their very own game at all, as it is common knowledge how miserable BG experience is in ESO, if they gave any care or thought we wouldn't be this deep in misery. Idk what kind of "spreadsheets" they are looking at when attempting to balance stuff, but looking at the balance quality of the game it is most probably an Excel sheet with RNG fields. No sane person would think that combining so much effects with such great number tooltips could be a good idea. Yet here we are: "melee" brawlers with 7 meters long arms ereasing tens of thousands of hit points by pressing 2-3 buttons. Tragicomedy.

OP, if your observation is that DK is ridiculously overpowered compared to other classes: you are just right. This is the new 'strategy' of ZOS, revamping all classes one by one. Is your class scheduled for the remaster in 2 years? Well, it sucks to be you man, go play something else, but just after you've bought our battle pass! $$$ ;3

    I'm angry. >:c

That's the thing, OPs observation wasnt that dk is overpowered compared to other classes, it was "you shouldn't be able to do 40k damage in 2 GCDs", which is possible on any class using the right set up.

DK is very strong but if you refuse to learn how to counter them, to the point of calling for nerfs before dodging an onslaught, or blocking a whip, its really a "you" problem.

Nerfing a whole class through battlespirit is an insane idea that really shouldn't be enabled.

Btw @HunterDawn looking at these numbers you probably don't wear heavy armor and have very low critical resistance. My first recommendation would be to invest in defense - at least 2 heavy in chest and one of feet/legs/shoulder/helmet. Do Impenetrable traits in at least 3-4 slots of your armor if you go PvP. Either that or if you wanna remain glass cannon do invest in mobility nonetheless to increase your movement speed and/or acquire teleport abilities to maintain your distance from melee brawlers such as DK.

However insanely overpowered DK is, as a brawler it has its right to brawl you in the face if you let them remain in your naked face. Try to recognize the sound and visual of iconic DK abilities: leap must be blocked, whips can be counted and then blocked and if you see corrosive.. well.. you can most certainly try to run.

True the battle spirit thing is a bit much but counter may also be the wrong word.

Ok so you dodge the ult which came before or after a buggy cc. Next you still have incoming high damage or someone that can tank you till nuclear launch is available.

Dks do die and I've killed a dk here and there after much effort in more cases than I care for.

I've been testing dps, healers, and tanks lately and dk is the biggest burst threat that can repeatedly cut through your defenses when piloted with thumbs.

I think you one at a time approach is garbage. We have too many classes for it to not create several pain points along the way.

Lash an enemy with flame, dealing <<1>>. Activating a different Dragonknight ability while in combat grants a stack of <<2>> up to 3 times, increasing the damage of your next <<3>> by <<4>> within <<5>>.

By the way that doesn't really work as well with even a decent dk. I've played tanks, healers, tanky dps, high mobility, etc and at the end of the day they can just cut through just about anything.

What's really the point if it's mostly not a fair fight anyways?

It is only possible because the ult and whip bursts were timed with the delayed burst damage skills. This is a gameplay feature, not an exploit or cause for concern. Combos like this exist in classes with delayed skills.

I can accept this damage mechanism, but the problem is that the damage caused by DK is too high and disregards armor resistance, which is quite unfair

It is bypassing resistance because you got hit by Onslaught and DK in Corrosive or high pen build using TFS.

Also, while Corrosive is DK exclusive but Onslaught is not. So, Onslaught is a very common ult right now for all classes with crit meta back in the rotation after SPS nerf and you have to kite the person with that active like you do with DKs in Corrosive.

lmao,He finished all the output in just two seconds. How can I avoid it?

I agree that it's not balanced, and that PvP is in a bad state right now. DKs / WW / Sorcs are effectively running tank builds and able to push out damage, but on my NB/Templar/etc. I need to be a complete glass build to even damage them.

There's a DK around I took out in 3 jabs cycles on my glass (pure) templar build, but to do it I had to do the above because they can kill me in 3 hits since my resists on that build are effectively 0.

When it's the case that I need an extreme offensive build like that to even damage some of these players and provide a threat to their dominance, then I of course won't say the game is balanced.

But ZOS does not seem to care about addressing it in the slightest and of course the forums has people defending the game's balance right now. Which is why I posted those suggestions.

As for fossilize, yeah it was a bad change among other changes.
