Buff Redguards

I genuinely do not see how this race is in a good spot when its literally been since ages since this race had good passives to keep up with the meta. Like a 8% reduction in weapons and some other passive is all we get? The stamina sustain is all we have with no critical buffs and what not compared to the rest of the racial passives that can subclass better and have more synergy options. There needs to be a change to redguards when it comes to their racial passives and its been years since its became meta stuck at the bottom of least picked race for builds to be forgotten.

I agree. But it's okay, I still use my Red guards. And get revenge by firing siege.

No offense, but exactly which race did receive extra in their passives "to keep up with the meta"? I know about no racial changes since U29. Hybridization affected other races as well, like how can a Breton subclass into stamina abilities better than a Redguard can with magicka? Some races are slightly better in certain areas compared to others and the same is true for Redguards. Also, historically redguards despise any form of magic, having them more focused on that would make no sense.

What is exactly your point? I look at the racial passives and I see 1k stam regen per 5 sec is still better than e.g. high elf 660 regen, 2k extra stamina is the same as with every other races those receive magicka or stamina, and weapon abilities can actually mean magicka based staff abilities as well.

What is your proposal other than 'change' it? Your post could be more useful if you would provide exact examples of your expectations.

Do you play Redguard? Because if you do, you'd know the passives are useless in actual combat and there is little to no difference with the skill points in them or not, besides the max stamina bonus.

Also Altmer isn't comparable (and yes, I love my Altmers). Altmer restores either mag OR stam, which is way better than just restoring stam IMO. But beyond that Redguard has to do damge for the resource return which is a huge difference vs. Altmer that doesn't have to do damage and just activate a skill and recovery passives.

One (Redguard) I can shut down the resource return by avoiding damage or cloaking, theo ther (Altmer) I cannot. That is a huge difference in an actual combat scenario, and it does make a difference in reality. Especially in PvP where people actively avoid damage and cleanse.

And it can also be argued that having to run a DoT to take advantage of the passive is a downside as well since DoT damage sucks.

Now, let's move on to the Weapon cost reduction. Again, wouldn't be an issue if weapon skills were actually slottable v. all other options. Even on sorc, at most I am only slotting bloodthirst. And cost reduction on that is useless.

The weapon ults all suck and no one uses them in combat (at leat PvP) except for the DW one, which can be used to one shot people on a very specific questionable arcanist build using Spattering Disjunction and stacking instances of damage and status effects.

But that is yet again another problem. If the racial passives are that situational for the Redguard race and not the others, how can anyone claim it is balanced? There's near zero reason for anyone to even choose Redguard, esp. in PvP.

In fact, go and see if ANYONE recommends being a Redguard in PvP OR PvE. No one will. I have 9 Redguards and I won't. I especially wouldn't recommend Redguard templar, necro, or arcanist. :D

    I'll tell you: it's not.

Redguard... the ultimate abandoned race. There was once upon a time it was a good choice for stam builds. Ever since the nerf, the race never recovered. Probably really the race that deserves somewhat of a rework.

This has been a solved balance problem (thanks to the forum) since ancient ages: Redguards receive 1.5x weapons traits to reflect their status as weapons masters.

Only hitch is... getting this into the game, haha.

If Bretons can get 8% reduction to magicka skill costs, can redguards get 8% reduction to stamina skill costs? Or at least weapons + class skills, since class skills have been majorly buffed over the years? And it fits the idea of honing your skills and training.

This reminds me of a post I made back when ZOS initially rebalanced the races. It never made sense to me why they rebalanced the races without adopting some metric of standardization across them.

My big proposal was to stick to a standardized set of guidelines when rebalancing the races, so that every race would receive the same total allotment of resources, they would just be distributed differently depending on the race. Each race would receive a bonus of exactly 3000 maximum resources (+10% to bonuses to health as is consistent with other parts of the game), a small defensive bonus of equal value, a small sustain tool, and the equivalent of exactly two 2-4 piece item set bonuses.

Redguards under that theoretical rework were given 2500 Stamina and 550 Health, 2310 Physical Resistance, slight stamina restore when dealing damage, and 8% reduction to Stamina cost of abilities.

For reference, the entirety of that post can be found here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/560656/definitively-balancing-racial-skills#latest

Im probably not the best person to announce this but I just know there needs to be a change Im not saying magic wise cause redguards despise magic and from what Ive seen so far that redguards have fallen from the meta so there needs to be a new passive based on stamina for them to be more viably picked for certain builds at least. I also see that redguards are pretty much the same the only difference is they are not recommended enough and thats my issue

I just think after the youtube videos I watched I realized that this race just gets no love regardless and there shouldnt be an excuse for it and like the other guy said the weapon ult sucks and nobody uses them so either rework the weapon skills or give us something new that reflects redguards

The passives and bonuses are for lore reasons. Although, a small boost is needed for some.
