Templar Class Mastery (Devout Guardian)

While sacred ground is active, you gain a damage shield for six seconds, up to once every six seconds. The shield absorbs up to 8102 damage and provides 300 Health, Magicka, and Stamina recovery while active. If the shield breaks, you gain 10 ultimate.

I think it’s a cool ability, but what if we had it so the damage shield wasn’t affected by battle spirit because in PVP this gets reduced by half and basically it absorbs one attack every six seconds and the passive recovery goes away too quickly.

i like small shield stacking on templar currently frost staff off bar + this shield + frost shield + shield enchant + barrier if i use this ult + ulfsing contingency shield with 8% damage reduction + monomyth reforged wchich buff every shields by 8% even psijic one its not much defense if you use one at time but sometimes you stack 3-4 at the same time in pvp they all small but can be powerfull too heal on templar.

They made it weak because it's a form of automated defense -- something you'd usually need a set or other major build decision to gain access to.

But that's the problem with Templar's class masteries: ZOS is looking at it like a pure templar isn't giving much up to gain access to them.

It's the wrong way to look at it when Templar does not even have a slottable skill that provides a major offense buff and has to go elsewhere to get things like Major Savagery / Brutality consistently or waste bar space with skills that are useless like sun fire (or waste alchemy mats).

Again, the masteries did nothing to address the problems with the class. Only one of them being the above issue with # of buffs and uptime on it. But ZOS is pretending that the masteries are as good as being able to subclass and alleviate those issues.

That is before we get into just how bad the Templar skills actually are. They don't provide any real benefit from slotting/activating more than one of them, which is a good thing because most aren't worth slotting in the first place.

It simply is a problem with the class and why it makes no sense it is one of the later classes to get reworked along with necro, which suffers from the same issue.

If ZOS did even one logical change -- like buffing the general purpose skills that offer these buffs or the scribed ones, then we would not need to complain about how they treat the masteries since we'd have viable options. But that isn't true right now, and that's why the masteries are all good on paper and disappointing in reality for any templar trying them out.

Yup class have too many skills that are totally useless that's true. Still it's possible not op but possible to play this class. Hardest thing for most players is accepting that you will never be the best of the best. For this we must wait on class refresh ,maybe after those changes templar will reborn too no be what it is now.

You should look at it as an ult-gen passive not as a shield passive.

So if in combat, you're not really going to get that extra 300 recovery then because the shield will keep breaking, especially in pvp. Should make it that the recovery isn't tied to the damage shield but rather while sacred ground is active you get the recovery.

Or a separate buff with its own duration. Just like oh, idk, Sphere of Influence.2q1ymsxbp6uf.png
