How to get FEWER research portfolios?

I'm really tired of looting Glenumbra and the only "notable" loot is Research Portfolios. If I make Azandar hate my thief, will I get fewer Research Portfolios?

Once you have the perk, you have the perk. I suppose you could destroy them after getting them, but there is nothing to prevent them dropping other than not having Azandar active or not unlocking his perk in the first place.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

Yes I know. I was just hoping the drop rate might lower if I reduce his rapport.

I thought ZOS said companion perk drops would be lower after Q4 last year, but apparently not Azandar's.

Azandar's portfolios seem to drop at about the same rate as Mirri's treasure bags for me. The only difference is that the latter have a good chance of containing just gold, whereas the former always contain more items.

companion rapport does not affect chances of companion bonuses from happening

if you have the keepsake you are permanently stuck with the research portfolios regardless if you have azander active (until such a time as the devs allow people to disable them lol)

if you do not have the keepsake, simply do not use him if you do not want to get the portfolios

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Azandar's portfolios is a great resource for unopened treasure maps and the very occasional purple furnishing plan, I wish we could get more of his research portfolios.

Aside from the addon that auto-opens the companion perks, you could also use the addon that lets you auto move to junk.

I really wish people wouldn't ask for less free stuff or worse RNG. This reminds me of people asking for less tri-pots in the daily login rewards. Ask for better ways to manage things you dislike, maybe? If anything, we should be asking for auto move to junk as a QoL feature.

The portfolios is the ONLY thing that gives something form Glenumbra looting. It seems like they forgot to include blue+ furnishing plans in that zone.

For me ALL I get are the Research Portfolios. I haven't gotten a single one of the new Breton plans. Any furniture plans that drop from Portfolios are worth nothing, since there are so many of them dropping.

I just vendor whatever drops from the portfolios. It's not much, but without them it would be ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with the drop rate ZoS set for Glenumbra.

So the new breton plans are SUPER rare. We've been complaining about them lol.

Also, it makes zero difference to drop rates of standard loot for companion perks to be included in your loot; they all drop in addition to what you were going to get, they don't replace anything.

Maybe we have to wait after July 8th...

Well, technically they do drop, but at a rate that can be considered "not dropping".

They aren't that bad if you run/thieve efficiently.

Pick-pick-poke, and loot every drawer and cabinet along the way. Have finished most of the on my main, with many duplicates and more.

Most of the them I got just from pickpocket everyone I could, with a few from cabinets in homes/inn

It's worse than in many latest zones where you can get everything from just looting/stealing and without bothering with pickpocketing.

As has already been mentioned, the Unboxer addon + assistant can mark anything what you want as junk and sell everything (that can be sold) when you interact with a vendor.

I guess that might be a suggestion for QoL for some players in a way that allows them to toggle on/off an unlocked upgrade (at least not one directly related to content access)

Some of us NEVER and I mean NEVER get furniture plans from pickpocketing. Other than whites or base game greens, NEVER zone specific plans.

Also I loot everything I can find... but in Glenumbra "houses" do not reset when you leave, so you can't hit them multiple times in a row.

Glad it works for you, but you are definitely in the minority this time.

I think it would be good. Tying it to Rapport even allow it to be per-character.
I'd like to turn off Azandar and Ember benefits on my theif. I hate getting HIdden Wallets, because it means now i get to pickpocket more at the hardest level.

I don't mind these benefits on other characters. And I don't use these companions on my thief. So dropping Rapport to 0 or negative would be a great way to "turn off" the passive. Or even lower the drop to something like "rare" not "every 3 pieces of furniture I loot"

I don’t think you get furnishing plans from pickpocketing, just furnishings. I know I haven’t got any plans that way.

    Loot containers for furnishing plans.

    Loot containers for furnishing plans.

Vampires can drop plans for coffins and their lids, and nobles can drop plans for thrones. Drunks can drop plans for the skooma bubbler.

I think there are probably others, but I don’t farm NPCs as regularly as true enthusiasts. I just have gotten those and know they’ve been around for a while now. If decaffeinated has literally never gotten a plan above green from pickpocketing, that’s bad RNG or not hitting eligible NPCs, perhaps?

I think those are outliers. I mean the only source for the thrones is pickpocketing, not sure about the coffin although it does drop from Plunder Skulls I think. Only other source I know of for skooma bubbler is the Cormount Elsweyr dailies.

He could be referring to farming for the new Breton plans, which was what I assumed. That is what the topic of the thread is about after all.

At some point I think ZOS is going to have to create a way to delete a companion from our inventory. If they ever have level companion golden pursuits or other companion related tasks those of us who have all the companions level completely won't be able to do any of those tasks.
