The Game Design of BG's is Embarrassing

Just had another 2 Deathmatches in a row where some loser would refuse to leave the enemy spawn.

What a boring 10 minutes of my life.

I will not stop talking about this until they fix it.

This stuff happens a lot, we had a nice discussion during one of this occurring :D

I think this is common because BGs are toxic in their balance, makes no sense in their not thought out objectives, and overall a very frustrating experience in their outdated system. I feel you, just while reading this thread I've experienced this:

People are fed up and I can understand them just ragequitting the game. The current state of Battlegrounds is not fun and it is a miserable thing considered what an important and exciting part it could play in an MMO. Abandonment and 'bruh I just no longer care' is the worst feeling one can feel during playing a game and I believe ZOS should prioritize this. Maybe if they gave a damn about PvP and listen to PTS feedbacks the community wouldn't be shrinking constantly.

Disabling 4v4 just sets in stone that ESO will never be balanced and will never aims to be balanced at all, as without arena-like compositions, there will be zero incentive to do so. Then I'll deinstall the game and never return as long as they add no real arena content.

... and you couldn't camp another team at spawn because that would be leaving the objectives to the 3rd team.

This alone should have raised eyebrows at the drawing board. But somehow 2-team matchmaking made it's way into the game and I genuinly, GENUINLY, do not enjoy battlegrounds anymore.
    It's awful.

And speaking of the potential of low pvp player numbers in BGs.
Those new players that might get interested in doing BGs more often, are greeted with an unbalanced hellhole.
Back when I started playing during Elsweyrs release for for a couple years after that, I could always jump into BGs with a character below level 50 and, despite dying a lot, enjoy the whole thing.

Zos killed that enjoyment. New players don't leave the match excited to try again, they leave frustrated because they died in less than 1 second to their enemies and then got spawn farmed.

I tried going back into BGs for the sake of the new rewards but 'Feta cheese' that 'Spinach' because I'm not enough of a masochist to punish myself that hard for weeks to come. See y'all in Cyrodiil.

Yep, it was two team BG's that ruined the experience for me.

    Here's a new one.

Round 1 of DM, after losing the first fight the enemy team sat at spawn the whole round resulting in 2 out of the 4 members of my team to quit out of boredom.

Then they proceeded to beat us 4 v 2 and win the match.

And that's why they need to rotate the players in each team after each round in solo queue TDM, similar to the way WoW Arena does it.

If a team is beaten 500-0 in the first round, how the hell is the game going to be much different in the second round???

Make each players individual scores carry over into the next round and rotate the players within each team. And then do the same in round three. Your overall score goes into the leaderboard. I can guarantee with this approach your not having three rounds of 500-0.

Honestly, whoever designed the current nonsense we currently have in BGs should find something else to do within ESO because PvP obviously isn't their forte.

Sounds to me like a well performed awesome tactic!

    Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd again.
Well, we all do what we can to our advantage.

Waiting below their spawn point knowing full well they'd be vulnerable while jumping down is another exploit.

Item 2 - Entering the Map by falling off a Platform
    • Is your team behind in a deathmatch? Well get ****ed, now you all have to be CC'd for 1.5 seconds when re-entering the fight because, after respawning, you have to enter the map by falling off a platform. And while falling, the enemies can hit you with abilities, but you can't do anything about it.

This is not a post complaining about how players behave. It's complaining about how the game design of BGs is bad and how it enforces players to behave in ways that are unfun for both teams.

That screenshot shows you waiting below their spawn point, which is why they didn't come down. In those cases, I back up to give my opponents a fighting chance and seeing that, they usually come down.

They didn't drop down because they are bad.

This commemoration is for the class that has constantly been plundered and dismantled by designers for no obvious reason while other classes continue to have coherent skill lines and feel both powerful and cool.

If the enemy team refused to leave spawn, it’s because they’re getting blown out. Exactly what “fighting chance” are you giving them? That’s like saying you leave your bacon out for five minutes to give it a fighting chance before putting it in the pan. It’s cooked regardless, just like your opponents.

You wouldn't do everything in your power to spite the opponent if you could? In BGs when I encounter literal unkillable builds in a 4v4 or 8v8 "random" full of organized players, I go down and move at max speed + use trick play just to aggravate them into dropping the game.

BGs is not a competive environment anyway. It's a poor imitation of one and that much is evident by how it operates on every level.

I can't wait to return to the game in 72 hours. It's going to be a LOT of fun.
