People are using them to hide their 'spec'/class.
Please disable costumes in Cyrodiil, or soon it will be a bunch of costumes running around = boring and stupid.

All level 10s should be wearing a costume in Cyrodiil. If they aren't, they are road kill. The bright green pants on low level Bretons are a dead giveaway.

It would not work, The emperor armour is a costume.

Agreed. Not much point in removing costumes if anyone can wear anything.

Meh. I suppose this is in response to Templar/DKs running around in a light armor costume with Destro/Resto staves, so one singles them out hoping to get an easy kill on a Sorcerer and pow--the old bait and switch.

I personally use costumes to this affect. I even swap back to 1H and Shield/2H once they commit to fighting me. It's cool when disguises work on NPCs, but awesome when they actually work on players.

If you are selecting your targets because you feel they are weaker then you then you kinda get what you get. I am not condemning selecting weak targets, its a sound battle strategy, but so is hiding your strength.

I would like to take a vote for this being the dumbest complaint on the forum...

Its for real. High VRs are using costumes to disguise their 'spec' so to speak.

If you guys want everyone to run around with costumes looking like peasants in Cyrodiil, about a month when this trend settles, fine, but I do NOT. Its lame, they use armors, and they are not peasants.

If I wear 5 Heavy and 2 Light armour
but I make my Light armour gloves and robe so it always looks like light armour to hide a full 5 piece heavy set
    is that the same thing?

Its stupid like it has started to become last week or so.
High VR guilds run around in big blobs looking like peasants.

Using subterfuge to hide one's strengths is a valid tactic in combat regardless of how it is applied.

Of course they are not peasant.
Thats why everyone should use skeleton costume -just to show that they didnt hide anything ; >:)

Im confused. You can simply use addon and have a nice Icon on your target that tells the exact class, without having to even look at the character itself. Not that it helps you determine of it's a healer/dps/tank , unless its all of the above (DK)

How exactly do you "hide a spec"? Im a DK with strengths in cloth and heavy armor..mage guild and fighter guild ULTs..world ULTs. I use resto staff destro and sword and board..I may even try two handed and a bow before i'm done.

My point is there is no "hiding your spec" when your spec can be anything. I know its a sorc when they bolt or lightning form..i know its a DK when they talon..I know its a templar when they solar burst...not because of what theyre wearing lol...

and by the way Ive met good and bad from every class...I only realize theyre good when im neck deep in sh** or they're neck deep in mine. Same goes with "former" emperors and empresses. Some are a powerhouse..others?..not so much.

I have to quote Sun Tsu on this one: "Deception is the basis for every strategy".
Disguising yourself to hide your class is a nice method for this, but as said before there are several addons that indicate name, level/rank, class and hitpoints of your target. So I don't see the point of removing customs from PvP. Besides, I'm pretty sure that in the future we will see guild groups in their "guild uniforms" when we get to dye our gear. I wonder if the OP wants to see this disabled too....

Actually I wanted to vote to have more costumes in game - not only from quests but also craftable, so guilds could have same look & feel and be recognizable.

Yes, thats the only valid argument for banning the costumes in cyrodiil :)

Each class has specific skill animation, not hard to tell them apart once they start casting.

Would be a bummer if i cant use that sony the hedgehog costume i'll buy from the cash shop for 99.99$(+taxes) on my sorc once this goes f2p...

It's part of the game. It's a fun part.
Stop trying to take all the fun out of the game.

As in, 'Soon it will be a bunch of uniforms running around = boring and stupid.'

He raises a valid point and you choose to avoid it?

What is the difference between a heavy armor wearer using a light robe to cover his choice of heavy gear.
