Tamriel Tomes - Please allow us to opt out of auto claiming at the end of the season.. please

For the love of all things daedric.. if I wanted 1,200 more potions and poisons, I promise I would claim them. But I do not. I have way too many already. Ezabi will scratch my eyes out if I try to give her one more. Peddler of Prizes does not find them to be shiny enough. The crate Khajiit does not find them to be worthy of crown gems. So please... I would much rather have the 6,200 gold I would get from the tome points instead.

I really do wish there was an option to mark things we don't want the auto-claimer to take. By default leave everything unmarked so people who have to suddenly take an extended leave from the game don't miss out on certain things, but let us actively choose if there are things we don't want. I didn't want certain things from the Free Tome, but I just went and bought everything anyway since the auto-claimer will add what I didn't want regardless.

IIRC, only Collectibles will be auto claimed. Consumables (scrolls, potions, charts, etc) do not. I could be mistaken, but that was the first thing that came to mind upon seeing this thread.

The auto-claimer skips over rewards that are an item type. These include rewards such as Crown Lethal Poisons, Adventuring Supply Packs, and Upgrade Kits. This also extends to rewards that are a "bundle" of items, such as the Furnishing Pack: Dawn and Dusk on page 4 of the Tome of Dawn and Dusk.

More generally, I would like the ability to mark a specific reward as "not wanted" placing a red cross (rather than a tick) over it.

This is because of the rate pages unlock vs the "priority" i placed on certain content on later pages means that during the process of earning tome points i'm often left with "gaps" that are a mixture of:
    do not want.
do want, but only once I have more important stuff.

In the end I simply ended up claiming all the stuff I didn't want because it was easier than re-verifying 100 times that the only things I hadn't claimed were things that I genuinely didn't want, and I didn't want to risk missing out on something.

Leaving certain rewards "uncrossed" allows me to more easily return to them at a later date without having to hunt through all the unclaimed again.

Which honestly makes even less sense than just doing prioritizing (buy Style Pages first, Skill Styles second, Furnishings third, so on and so forth until the auto-claimer buys everything or Tome Points run out) because different people will value different things, we'll, differently.

Some people might value the Crown Riding Books and Wayshrine Scroll more than they do the Vigor Skill Style, or they might value that Dusk and Dawn Furnishing bundle more than the Style Pages. It's strange they felt letting a system with no input from the player what they consider of value decide instead for everyone what should he considered high value.

I must have missed this article! This good news for my sweet Ezabi, but still. We should be able to opt out of any auto claiming completely. Why force all players to waste points of stuff they won't use instead of letting them take the gold instead?

I too would like to opt out of the autoclaimer and just get the extra gold from my leftover points (currently sitting at about 12k and that’s from just playing the game, not trying to grind the points). Personally, I don’t want any of the style pages or skill styles but from what I understand, that is what the autoclaimer will claim for me at the end of the tome. I think an opt out button is not that big of an ask.

I can kinda see the point here though.

For players who value the consumables (or anything else), the idea is that the player would buy those during the season itself. The autoclaim is specifically to benefit the players who forget to buy things with their points and then come to the forums to whine about their lack of planning ZOS’s decisions.

True, it does mean that players who would rather the gold instead of the collectables would still be forced to get them. That is an issue that could be solved by having repurchaseable things on the bonus pages like FO76 does, so players who know what they do and don’t want can spend their points as they see fit on the last day, and then only the players who neglect to do so would get the ZOS-chosen set.

I don't think it needs to be so complicated as to have us label everything as "want or don't want' or even needing an opt out option.

Just assume as adults we were already smart enough to have already collected what we wanted to collect, and if we didn't we didn't want it.

People have plenty of warning of when the season ends to make sure to collect anything they want in a season pass before it expires.

If you would rather have gold only at the end, its 10 to 1. I guess they could offer an option for you. At the very beginning. Don't do the tomes if you don't like the rewards. Auto claim is a nice feature, it needs to stay. If it didn't exist, all we would be hearing is, "But I missed the rewards!"

Despite the fact that we are given ample time to claim any rewards we want during the season and anyone missing out either has bigger problems in life than to worry about a video game or its entirely their own fault for waiting 3 months to claim stuff.. but if you read my post again, you'll see that no where did I ask for it to be removed from the game. I simply want the choice to opt out. I am a big girl and I can make my own decisions about the items I want or don't want. As a housing player, gold is far more valuable to me that a random outfit style I will never put on. Again, I don't want it to be removed. I want to opt out.
