This is the official feedback thread for the U50 PTS-specific Tamriel Tome. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • Were you able to select between the two PTS Tomes? PTS U49 and PTS U50 will be added to all PTS accounts.
  • Do the new Weekly Challenges function correctly?
  • Were you able to reroll Weekly Challenges for Gold once you were out of Challenge Reroll currency?
  • When the PTS Season end, did the Tome autospend your points down to a 2000 Tome Point cap?
  • Was the end of Season pop-up clear?
  • Any other feedback?

Short answer? No idea. The U50 Tome was not available anywhere that I could see under the Tomes menu (F4).

Kudos for adding some space between the "Next Page" and "Exit" controls, though.

I just keep getting an error message that says: "You cannot access that right now." The icon in the top menu is grayed out and hitting the keybind also gives the error message.

And a follow-up on this one, too. The U50 Tome showed up this morning, including a book-looking button in the upper left of the Tome page (next to "View Challenges") which seems to be to access other tomes. Clicking it does nothing, so the U49 Tome is currently inaccessible by any means I can discern.

I received the five weekly rerolls, but did not see anything about rerolls for gold. My working hypothesis is that this does not kick in until the player has no weekly rerolls left.

I used up all my rerolls and still saw no option to reroll for gold

It showed the U50 Tome, but I couldn't figure out how to view the U49 Tome. I looked in the help article in-game, but there's no mention. Also, I have 14 rerolls available, which I thought was limited to 5 rerolls. Note on this: on live servers I currently have 8 rerolls - 3 rolled over from last week. I'm not sure if this is intended or not.

One very minor issue with the weekly challenge on fencing 1000 gold worth of goods. If someone has the Haggling perk from the Thieves Guild skill line and/or the Infamous perk from the Craft tree, those increase the gold gained from fencing (up to +35% with both) and the challenge works from gold gained, not base value. I'm not complaining since I worked relatively hard to get those perks and am enjoying the returns from them, but I'm not sure if this is intended behavior.

hi i have not been to PTS so no idea if there are furniture packs in the new Tome, but regardless:

it would be really helpful if we could get the option to acquire furniture packs from Tamriel Tomes multiple times, i would love having more of the new High isle fireplace.

Were you able to select between the two PTS Tomes? PTS U49 and PTS U50 will be added to all PTS accounts. I only see PTS U50. How to get the U49 to show?
    ee4yfmah24wo.png

Do the new Weekly Challenges function correctly? I have one called dynamic Encounters. I cannot find one. Perhaps a better description on where to find one. Hopefully they are not quests that are completed already.
    cqdicd2j5mmx.png

Were you able to reroll Weekly Challenges for Gold once you were out of Challenge Reroll currency? No. I ran my rerolls out and could find no option to purchase more.
When the PTS Season end, did the Tome autospend your points down to a 2000 Tome Point cap? n/a
Was the end of Season pop-up clear? n/a
Any other feedback? Please balance the challenges better. I get far too many group challenges. I don't group. I don't want to group. It is frustrating to see 11 rerolls fall away and still end up with two group challenges that refused to change. (live issue)

Looking at the Seasonal Challenges that are based heavily on the TG questline...I'm not so sure that's a good idea if those are meant to go Live with U50. It's fine to have ONE Challenge be related to the quest, but several? It's overkill and there are plenty of people who don't/won't want to take part in stuff like that.

That aside, I got a quest to kill 1 WB, so I'm glad to see it looks like having to do specific things are now generic? Is there a full list of Weekly Challenges we can look at? Because I don't remember the Fencing thing being part of the current rotation (at least I haven't seen it, which doesn't mean much given limited rerolls) and there was something else I got that looked new as well but idr what it is.

I do hope the Group Event Challenges are also generic and can be done wherever like WBs. I do see that the Harvesting ones are still specific rather than just "Harvest X number of materials", which would have been more ideal. Generic Challenges will ALWAYS be better, because they give people the freedom to do what they like/want and it makes it easier to sync Challenges with your friends when it comes to the group-related stuff.

Generic challenges also helps to prevent resource exhaustion for some popular maps. It is frustrating to have to cross a map a few times to find a resource or show up at a boss just as it falls. Waiting is not playing.

Tamriel Tomes are a great idea and addition to the game. However, the arbitrary limit of 2000 tome points that can transfer between seasons needs to be removed.

If you are trying to produce player engagement, then you do for a week or two until everyone has everything they want, and then they just stop playing. Of course, you could continue to promote player engagement by having more and/or unlimited rewards of sorts.

Also, this cap is patently unfair for people that have alternative work/life situations. I have a friend that works 6 months of the year as a fireman and spends the other 6 months gaming in ESO. Due to your current arbitrary rules he's unable to build up tome points when he has free time to spend when he's working 12-14 hour days. This is not ok.

Please remove the arbitrary rules and give players more rewards to continue player engagement beyond the current completion of the tome. They're our points let us spend them how and when we want to.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Not really the proper place for this since it relates more to Tomes and Update 49, but I made a first EU character on my alt account on the live server in preparation for PTS3 and found my challenges fully populated (probably lost three in there somewhere since it's five per week and capped at 12) along with the full allotment of 12 rerolls. This is all probably intended behavior.

On the topic of challenges, there is no reason for an account with one Level 3 character to be receiving weekly challenges to do Trials, Battlegrounds, Elden Hollow II/IC Prison, and the like. There are some which are kind of borderline, like killing innocents with the Blade of Woe (it's at least accessible immediately after the tutorial), but there are a few which should not be in the mix for new accounts. Perhaps there could be some filter where those higher-end challenges won't be in the pool until some minimum character-level threshold is reached for new accounts?

I was just searching for any mentions of nowhere keys because I noticed these seasonal challenges today and thought this implied that these are reasonably doable within the timeframe:

    cnlmbi8mz3tz.png

...But then I saw the date of your comment, and no updates since. I guess I just didn't pay attention to them earlier.

I spent a bit of time during the first two weeks doing various things in Glenumbra, including the new quests and looting tons of different container types along the way. (The only thing I couldn't do was progress further in the TG quest because it was bugged, nor Dynamic Events because nobody was ever around to help.)

I got NOTHING: No leads, no furnishing plans, no keys, fragments, nada.

I was going about it fairly casually, not like this is my job. But still, enough that I'd think I'd hit something? :/

I logged in this morning to find the U50 rollover functioning. It autopurchased from the U50 tome to bring my Tome Points balance below 2K (~1950 points carrying over), but the U49 Tome is no longer accessible.

EDIT: logged on this morning for more Thieves Guild testing and found both Tomes accessible.

Throwing this out for whatever it might be worth, but the effective doubling of Tome Point rewards through challenge repeatability once the Bonus Pages are unlocked seems to be problematic.

Speaking strictly to my personal experience with the U49 Tome, I have not been doing any serious grinding of challenges other than the expected "clear them out by Tuesday," but I'm also not rerolling much except those which radically stray outside my normal gameplay routine (I'll confess to attempting to driving Dragon Frogs to extinction in Hew's Bane). Both Bonus Pages are currently unlocked (about a month after the Tome's launch), I've bought just about everything that I intend to buy from the Tome, and for the rest, well, there are still a couple of months to go and I'll just play it by ear.

I do not know whether my experience with having all Tome pages unlocked in about a month is the norm or the exception. I suppose it's probably slower compared to other daily players, faster than sporadic players, and somewhere between for frequent-but-not-daily players, but the thought of being able to effectively double the number of Tome Points I accumulate over the last couple of months of a Tome seems strange in light of the lack of desirable stuff to spend Tome Points on.

Rather than making the challenges repeatable (or perhaps in addition to making them repeatable - that's a design decision above my paygrade), perhaps putting items on the Bonus Pages which can be repeatedly purchased might be a workable solution?

I fail to see the "problematic" part? I think you may be underestimating your user experience vs others. I just unlocked bonus page 1 and 2 last Tuesday with everything I want unlocked, so I can confidently say I'm in the same boat, but I know hands down, the way I handled it, and probably you, is not what the casual playerbase is doing.
    • I have ESO + for +10%.
    • I've logged in at least 4~5 times a week.
    • I've rerolled challenges to optimize them for 400~500 vs the low 300~400 some of them come as. You didn't, but maybe you just got lucky.
    • I got a 3 page headstart via 3x tome caches. Basically 3 weeks ahead.
    • I did every ridiculous seasonal challenge that also gives 1~2k tomes.

You may think it was easy, but if you're anywhere close to where I am, you did some or all of these tactics too, and reality is, most players won't play like us. I don't really think I did it an elitest sweaty way, I basically just did the challenges every tuesday, but I can't ignore that I did absolutely everything with bonuses and some people won't. If I didn't have ESO +, 3 caches, and the seasonal challenges, I'd be at least 5~6 pages back, more if I missed a single week. They want it to be flexible and easy to beat over time, if you need to miss 1~4 weeks, you can still finish it.

They have a whole article about this, but they implemented the double tome points at the end to provide some incentive for people who unlocked everything quickly. Since points reset at the end of a season, anything extra will be converted into gold or auto unlock everything from the farthest page to the earliest, starting with premium items in case you couldn't consume them in time, which if I remember correctly can be opted out of if you prefer not to have those items.

I don't think the tome == gold conversion will be worth grinding vs other everyday options, but if you're passively playing and unlocking points along the way or enjoy the mini challenges, you'll still get some type of additional reward for it at the end of a season. Seems pretty well designed to me so far.

Ditto to the first and second (ESO Plus and daily playing).

For the third, I actually shoot for the lower-payout challenges (90+ days is a long time) and reroll stuff like Trials, Arenas, PvP, etc. I harvest-as-I-go, so harvesting challenges are the ones that pretty much complete themselves. The rest are stuff that I have to go out of my way for, but not significantly.

Used one Tome Point cache. My alt account has used none and it's on Page 9, but I see the same problem for that one.

I have toons who haven't done Thieves Guild or DB, so excepting the Year One challenge, I haven't gone out of my way for the seasonals. Bosses took care of themselves, Anniversary took care of itself, etc.

The "problematic" part is that I will have bought everything I wanted from the Tome by the time the season ends, so having it go back and autobuy all the stuff that I didn't want is the major issue. My EU toons (both of them in the 20s) won't have a major problem aside from a few odd bits (Wayshrine Navigation Charts are high on my "not a fan" list, for example), although they'll probably need to go get a house for the furnishings.
