The Feedback About Igneous Weapons Look Was for Nothing

Many players wrote that they would prefer the look of their weapons to not be overridden by the look of the new Igneous Weapons animation.

The new look of the skill isn't even the only tacky thing about it. It also makes a whipping sound. How unecessarily sassy.

Needlessly to say, I want my weapons to look like my weapons. I want to hear a whip when I cast whip.

How excessive, disneyfied, and, honestly, sad for the DK. I don't play WoW for good reason.

Hopefully someone can release an addone to suppress the skills look and sound.

really my only complaint with the DK rework. the models that replace your weapons are bulky and hideous.

The overwrought visual effects are all way too much. I’ve gone into several BGs where I literally couldn't tell what was going on because of all the hyper-bright flame and particle effects. And the sounds just feel unnecessary. Not just with DK, but they’ve added sounds to the menu options, like confirming a queue and respecs.

No one should be surprised that feedback was ignored. ZOS did as ZOS does.

For some reason oversized weapons are all the rage in RPGs these days. So many games now have player characters wielding weapons twice their own size and body mass like they were ordinary utensils.

Fitting them in to this game is a bit jarring in my opinion. But , it is what it is.

I thought they looked sick, I got multiple messages about how badass they look today also, people thought it was a new motif at first.

Its a weapon power up so I feel like things like that, summoned weapons basically, or spells, they're supposed to look crazy.
Zos then: Vengeance is just a test bro

Zos now: Do you want Vengeance permanent or permanent...

What a horrible change. Didn’t they learn after the glow for that one NB ability? It’s always one step forward, two steps back with ZOS.

I had to necro this thread. Has zos said they are doing anything about reverting the look.
It's a 100% uptime skill, so it's 100% of the time I can't see the weapons I PAID FOR... not to mention, much prefer.

    Thanks

Yes, there's a Skill Style coming in the next patch that does not replace the weapons.

I wonder if the new skill style will also have a blue version!

No, this is the version that is available.

A blue version would need a different skill style.

Pretty much every single change that got pushed through on DK feels awful. The heavy handed changes feel like a sick, cruel, joke.

The DK got zero love for nearly it's entire existence. Don't worry, I'm here to help was the motto as the class was dissected, picked apart, and sanitized. No, not a straight face, it was with a face of excited glee that we got told that the skills being crumpled up, tossed, and replaced were iconic skills that everyone recognized and loved.

The changes therefore cannot have been about identity - DK now feels incredibly alien. It not only doesn't feel like the DK that I knew and loved. It doesn't feel like DK at all. It doesn't feel like it belongs in ESO. And how could it be that the changes were to resolve imbalances created by subclassing when the power of subclassing was not and cannot be resolved? How could it be that the changes were to resolve imbalances period when a pure class skill system, fully of abilities that are bound to be disgustingly broken, is in the pipeline?

So what was it all for? The answer is more mysterious than the meaning of life.

That's too bad. I had the misplaced expectation that I could enjoy skill style sets just like players of every other class, but do also do so without looking like a clown. Clown or nothing is a difficult approach, but some choice is better than no choice at least.

Its simple, they have no interest in the actual DK, they want to cherry pick it for Subclass. And when that happens, ITS NOT A DK ANYMORE. It shouldn't be allowed. Subclassing needs to be removed.

Seems like it would be better to do neutral/non-replaced weapon as default and then have the weapon replace one as a skill style? I haven't looked to see what the source of the new style is though so maybe that makes a difference.

They added an orange version called "Molten Weapons, Cooled" that leaves the original weapon models intact, WTB blue version of this.
