More Inclusive Cosmetics.

SicParvisMagna
As a Redguard main I noticed many cosmetics don't show well on brown or darker brown skin tone.

Lipstick is too bright or desaturated. Eye make-up has extra coloring that is unflattering; makes your character look ashy or like a clown. 'Brown' Body and Head markings barely even show up.

(I'll be adding picture examples later and overtime, as I don't make a habit of buying cosmetics that don't meet my standards lol. So preview only.)

I think I recognize the name, if so I always love seeing your characters around town! Very stylish and using cosmetics in new, creative ways. Looking forward to a photo thread, even if it's to explain a problem, because of the eye for detail and style.

I mainly know the struggle from making argonian and khajiit characters with a broad range of skin colors, so I've definitely seen the "clown" and "saturated" issues there. However, I wouldn't expect those cosmetics (mostly makeup) to always work on those races anyway, because of their variety and fur/scales. Redguards, however, should certainly have more things that work like subtler makeup, visible scars, etc.

I have 20 characters (all races), its never easy to find the right looks. You will always struggle with things that dont fit.
There are so many cosmetic options in this game that it is just logical that some choices wont go with others.

The biggest problem I see is that our character may look really good so we complete the creation. But once we are out in the game world our skin tone is too light or too dark, and our hair color and other cosmetics are off and we just don't look like the character we created. More than once I had to create the character a few times before it looked right. It took me several times before I got my Redguard how I wanted her.

This is why we need a grace period after creation where we can go back in and tweak until we get it right. An hour would be great but even half an hour would be very helpful.

I don't know if this would take care of the OP's issue, but I definitely agree that it's a problem for character creation across all races. I'd love to see the devs add different lighting options in the character creator (and outfit dye station too). It would also be nice to be able to try on collectible cosmetics in the character creator. It's difficult to predict how all the pieces will come together.

    Edited for clarity.

I'd be happy if they just make NORMAL lighting in the character creator, because what we have now is just awful. I understand that it is "lorewise" to make character in the gloomiest dungeon of Coldharbour but performing cosmetic manipulations in semi-darkness is unbearably painful.

I don't think the issue has anything with not being inclusive. I think it's more a problem with character creation not reflecting what the character will actually look like in the game world. Redguard is particularly difficult to come up with a look and to use a lot of the game cosmetics, so having a way to test the character with these and then have time to tweak things may help.

    Also, hi Tsaeci!

I think my biggest gripe is that more often than not the make-up cosmetics are a hit of miss on anything but lighter skintones. When a cosmetic drops there's only one version we can get instead a multiple to pick from.

I think Dev could consider adding different varieties suited for lighter and darker skintones. Not just for redguards but Dumner and Orcs too! Like a pack of colored options.

A light, medium, and dark version.

And the same for scars cosmetics. There could be a pack with scars suited each races skintone range.

Idk if it would economical for it to be one big pack of all the cosmetics or ethical to split the packs based on race xD

A few examples of the 'brown' cosmetics that don't show up well on medium dark skin.

Note: My redguard's skintone is not the darkest option.

A collection of the make-up cosmetics.

    (1) Dark Red Lip Dye
    - The color doesn't really stand out on darker reddish skintones.

    (2) The Aurbic Eye
    - It shows up but the lipstick looks...questionable.

    (3) Black Eyeliner and Lips
    - The lipstick is fine but that eye make-up looks ashy lol.

    (4) Black Eyeliner, Blue Lips
    - This cosmetics looks more like a bruise and is very washed out. It might look fine on Dumner, but not Orcs or Redguards.

    (5) Gold Lips and Eyeliner
    - The colors are gorgeous but the application is very flat. There is no shading or depth to the lipstick. (see: Royal purple lipstick for an example of good lipstick shading.) Also 'Eyeliner' goes around the eyes, not eyebrows

    (6) Subtle Blue Eye Shadow
    - Where's the blue? Also the lipstick looks really, REALLY, bad on dark brown skin.

    (7) Timebound Sovereign Face Tattoo
    - The eye make-up is fine but the lipstick looks very faded and is not as vibrant.
