IC as no pvp zone for quest line

Hi all! I think that IC main questline is one of the best in game! It has unique believable characters, very interesting story, immersive dialogues and great conclusion. It was one of the strongest impressions for me. Questions is, how many pve players have possibility to finish it without gankers or just pvp players interruptions? I was very lucky to made it in empty IC between pvp and pve event in one go. But hear complaints from guildies that they have to abandon it completely because of pvp players intrusion. Would it be possible to give pve players possibility to come through this questline without interruptions? Maybe some pve instance of IC could be created for it? Just my suggestion.

proly wont happen-many reason not to BUT what could happen is ZOS introduce a free weekend every 2-3 months for
players to explore and do the quest in IC - one of the best designed places in game -sewer sections are fantastic
and imo every Elder Scrolls fun should be able to check those areas, at least once

personally, ive done all quests, clear all areas and bosses -up and down -many times and got most of rewards

No. With the loss of Cyrodiil as it is, Imperial Cities PvPvE is one of the last interesting PvP aspects of this game.

The PvE players have always been able to finish the quest with ease. I've managed to map all of the tunnels and overland Imperial City multiple times only dying 2 or 3 times to players. By making a PvE only instance you'd remove the random friend or foe encounters that give Imperial City character. You'd reduce the population, which doesn't need reducing further. And once people have completed the Imperial City quests, there's no real reason to go back with the PvP district side.

It'd be a wasted effort from ZoS to put up a story server that'd be deader than Murkmire within a week.

But I ask to make IC pve zones only on quest time. Without tel-var prizes. People, who farm tel-vars , will come to pvp instances. I don't think, that it will reduce IC population more, then last decision to forbide teleporting with more then 100 tel-vars.
And, besides, I just finished Murkmire quest lines and it very lively zone nowadays

No. I don't pvp but I'm still a no. It's a pvp zone, you wanna get the stuff there, then there is a risk of pvp. I'll tell you what I do support. A dlc of Imperial City that is not pvp but is also completely different. Moving the timeline forward. So IC would still exist and not be touched at all, and you wouldn't be able to do any of the old IC stuff but a complete separate thing. Since we're moving the timeline forward in other areas of the game, maybe the dlc could be post fight for the ruby throne, uneasy truce, rebuilding the city and clearing the deadra remnant, more political then world ending. Like wrothgar. But leave the pvp zone alone.

a version of Cyrodiil and imperial City after the Planemeld and the Peace Talks would also be amazing.
since time is finally moving forward and we are getting sequels to old stories.

I guess you mean not Murkmire zone itself, but little zone in beginning of Murkmire questline, when we looking for golden skull in old temple. It is teally empty because of we could come here only once and for one quest

No. It is a PVP zone, and should remain a PVP zone. If unwilling to play it as such, then that is just a part of the game you do not complete.

As it is, it is actually not hard to complete without any real PVP engagement based on how and when you play it (same as Cyro). And if you do die to someone, it really is not a big deal. Just try again to complete what you were doing, and switch to the other instance if you feel someone is camping a particular area.

P.S., the change to porting out with more than 100 tel var was a bad decision by ZOS. Other changes could have been done to prevent porting out while in combat, or the amount could have been higher.

    OK, so, two things.

First of all, you pretty much can now. Again, I've done it multiple times on multiple characters and been attacked only a couple of times.

Second, the story of Imperial City is that it's a city under siege that's at the centre of a hard fought war. ZoS have gotten a lot of things wrong over time, but with the PvPvE aspect mixed with the story, zones atmosphere, and even the repeatables, Imperial City absolutely nailed that desperate war torn vibe. More so than any other story in the game for me. That sensation of "is there an opposing player around the corner, and will they leave me alone or start a fight" is a part of that vibe. Taking away the PvP, what little remains, would diminish that feeling, the story, and zone.

IC would be even deader, and, its a rite of passage to go there for the quest and encounter pvp lol for some users as the first time.

Turning this game into a no friction at all anywhere instant gratification sim is a super bad idea. There are users who get frustrated at having to ever deal with people be it pvp or otherwise, but its an mmo. Even for me as an introvert I crave interacting with or being near others in some capacity. Thats the life blood of an mmo.

There are many players that instead of being traumatized by or annoyed by the pvp interaction, are encouraged or motivated by it and look up builds to deal with it and be better at it. Some people, many actually, like adversity and to overcome it.

The game is full of quests and the like, this one single pvp zone which isnt even a part of the main quest having a main story arc unlike cyrodiil which is just a bunch of side quests isn't gonna break anyone.

Thank you for posting your opinion, it is very interesting to me! Great idea about desperate war vibe, quite agree with it, IC really showed it great! But for me pvp elements wasn't part of it questline and were rather to spoil whole mood.

Yes, it is breaking people and they stopped doing IC questline. I think it is really a waste of real masterpiece. But it is just my opinion.

I can see both sides. I've done the questline, so it's entirely possible to do it if you don't PvP. But I didn't like having to look over my shoulder all the time. That wasn't fun. So while it's possible to do it, the experience is somewhat ruined if all you're interested in is the PvE aspect. For that reason, I'd support a PvE-only zone where you don't earn telvar.

    Any reason?

    Tension.

Some players may be looking over their shoulder, because they might get got, or they might get, another player.

Some players might be overly confident, in a warzone, and get humbled.

It's a distinct feeling unique to these quests that would be lost if it could just be rushed without any care whatsoever.

You could make a PvE only version, but then it just becomes another quest checklist.

Addition is not change of current content. No one is asking to take anything away from anyone, at least not here, and I personally don't advocate that type of change.

Some may find that tension great. And you know what? You still can! No one says you can't, or is asking for it go away.

I get push back on technical issues, or removal/change of content to suit other players that takes away from another group. That doesn't seem to be what's being asked for here.
Maythor: honestly we're getting the supermarket treatment here ... shrinkflation with the addition of simply moving things about so they seem fresher .. all the while being told a corporation is our friend :P

If it comes with strings, it ain't free. It isn't a gift with purchase; you were overcharged.

Honestly, the danger is part of the story.

And all the quest parts where you are talking to NPCs at length are in protected areas where you can't be attacked.

What I would do if I was trying to do the quest line and kept running into enemy players that kill me would be to ask a couple of guildies to join me and run around the zone like headless chickens to serve as decoys.

    And bring Invisibility Potions.

As someone who's played the quest, I have never seriously been inconvenienced by the presence of enemy players. The bulk of NPC dialogue takes place in safe zones where you can't be attacked, and the finale of the questline is also safe. If there's too many enemy players around, you can just come back later.

I don't really see the point in lowering the population of Imperial City to support a no-PvP instance that would also be underpopulated.

Yeah, I agree with those who say IC is uniquely a PvPvE zone. The suggestion of making a PVE event could be an alternative solution. Thematically, you could say there is a temporary truce between the factions and give a challenging server goal. But making a permanent, separate PVE-only zone would be a bad idea.

    How about NO.

However I do support a minor alteration to the quest of adding a solo zone story while doing it. You can't earn telvar or fragments and xp gain is minimal. You are also forced into a story zone only. This could help people enjoy the story and do the quest.

Addition is not change of current content. No one is asking to take anything away from anyone.

Not particularly arguing but consider a situation, where player would absolutely opt out of a pvpve version of IC simply because of fear and staying in their comfort zone, whilst joining the version they might fear or dislike initially might turn their opinion and idea of fun upside down. Having an easier optional difficulty might potentially rob them of this new feeling and robbing the game of a new unsuspecting PvP player. Not telling that's a an always or frequent case but some of us were drawn into PvP that way and loved the initial thrill. Still remember IC as that unique zone which makes questing feel "real" in a sense compared to general overland.
