Dual Wield vs Two Handed and "Playing Your Way"

Aranax1914
I really admire the "play your way" sentiment and so i would like to STRONGLY urge you guys to PLEASE match the strength of dual wield and two handed weapons in regards to how much Weapon/spell damage they give etc.

I simply just like the two handed look more and do not want to force myself on dual wield just so i can do the most optimal damage. I see no issue with their damage balancing out and instead they be differentiated by other more utility based means.

Thank you

I don't think it would be a good idea to reduce weapon choice down to literally nothing more than aesthetics. Making them equally viable but for different reasons would be much better.

This is more than about asethetics. This is more about critical chance and critical damage vs. raw power. 2 Hander doesn't have a weapon set that increases crit chance by 6%, whereas dual weilding daggers gives you a passive increase to crit chance of 6%. In the crit damage meta (And in PVE, its pretty much always been crit damage or nothing), you only have one option to choose - the dagger.

Raw damage builds simply don't have enough going for them to make them competitive in PVE.

On top of that, the increased status coverage and the fact that the dual wield back bar proc is portable add to that power discrepancy.

Ideally, the devs could simply buff 2H to make it more appealing under certain conditions for use in PvE.

But since Critical Damage and Penetration are capped stats in PvE and just duplicating the Critical Chance bonuses of DW is pretty boring, about the only mechanism remaining would have to be either Weapon Damage or some Lightning Staff-like unique buff to Direct Damage or something. The latter of which would probably make the most sense and be the most thematically appropriate for 2H as a vibe.

But you are playing the way you choose to play, and you are choosing optimisation.

You can use 2H and drop what, 5% DPS maximum? If you want to play that way, but you don't want to.

If this was a response to me, my point was that the OP seems to be asking to make 2H better by making it functionally identical to DW, which would in fact make the choice between them 100% about aesthetics.

I don't think OP is asking for them to be identical, just for them to offer the same amount of weapon/spell damage.

2-handed would also need a crit chance passive to be competitive.

The skills and other passives are already very different, enough so for them to potentially be closer numerically while still being unique.

Why not just nerf dual wield instead? Make it 2%
