This also feels really bad considering that our typical April Crown sale didn’t come this year. Yeah, they’re never guaranteed, but still…
It was awkward enough watching the Direct stream and seeing how much of that was gonna be FOMO, but now that things keep getting more expensive and sales aren’t happening…
I mean, I guessed it was coming, but that doesn’t make it feel good.

This is helpful for sure, but the point is that they priced stuff that high. It's been like this for quite awhile. $100+ houses for example. I would love to have this recall and I may because of the sale. The prices are a bit on the high side though, especially for a shop that also had gambling boxes.
i know this thread is about the Recall price, my comment was about the sale happening and not being skipped.twisttop138 wrote: »tomofhyrule wrote: »Ew, I really need that recall for one of my characters, and I did see a lot of nice stuff dropping today.

now active on pc
Personally i am not shocked at the price of the Recall and Tharriker as they are similar in effects to the Apex tier Recalls and Mounts.
Mounts with effects similar to Radiant or Apex Mounts are also usually around 4 or 5000 crowns.
examples of those kinds of mounts:
- Voideater Durzog
- Hollowjack indrik
- Solstice indrik
not defending the price

My mistake!! I will tell you though. You cost me some money with your post. I wasn't aware of the crown sale and I told my wife. Her response was "Great! We'll buy some for both accounts." So I'll probably get the recall anyway. Which reenforces these prices because we pay them lol. I'm part of the problem.

Yeah, the prices are really high. I make absolutely sure not to buy Crowns outside of sales and ESO+.
Granted I am a total sucker so I am exactly the kind of person to stock up with the big amounts on sales (perks of really not caring about other entertainment outside of ESO and 10+ year old games that I actually own instead of renting on subscription), but the prices just keep going up and up.
It’s actually funny when something old returns to the store and it’s like “oh, here’s a 5000 Crown mount right next to the one for 800, but at least the 5000 Crown one sends an alert to everyone in the zone that you got in the saddle”
I do kinda wish though that the art team would shift from making millions of mounts and pets though to more customization and skill styles. But thats just a personal thing. I have a list of things I desperately want ZOS to give me, and seeing them make a new cadre of Apex mounts every three months and ignore the things I want is kinda meh. This is actually the first set of Crates I don’t even want to but a single one of since basically nothing is interesting in there, and there are Seals for the very few things that are.
You do realize that selling cosmetic items brings ZOS the most part of the profit, right? They makes more and more past dlc-zones free so player would not pay for them anymore, premium tomes are cost relatively not so much (and tbh I dont think many people decide it worthy to pay in perspective), so all the left are ESO+ and cosmetic. We all adults here and understand that to make ESO ZOS need money (all devs want to eat after all) so they need to find ways to compensate lost profits. And honestly I prefer that way - to buy something nice once in a few months, even if it costs more than it could, but have oportunity to play all I want rather than have to pay every time they relise some new content. IMHO.

Whales feed the beast. Just look at the whole housing thing. "They'll buy anything".
I would love to see how the sales would turn out having more reasonable prices. We'll never know I guess. To me, that is pure insanity. I could be interested at a fair price, but 4000 crowns for a recall action? Hard pass, thanks. I can't stand the predatory monetization tactics. Another example are armory slots. If they were account based I would have bought 2 or 3 for sure. Given they are character based, sorry, not a chance I'm ever going to buy even a single one.

I would imagine there are statisticians hard at work to set these price points. Spoiler alert, you ain't the target. It's the whales who spend thousands on a game they are after. It's not priced for the "common folk", it's priced to maximise revenue. If they could make more with a lower price they would. Unfortunately that means most people of "normal" means or "sensibilities' won't buy the stuff. That's just how it works. The prices are *not* set by accident, it's very intentional.

I recently read that over 50% of purchases in the gaming industry (in USA) are made by people with yearly income higher than 100.000$ - I'd say the target for these prices is not "the average Joe"...
Seems to me that once upon a time a poor person IRL could have felt rich in a game - well, that's no more: poor IRL, poor in the game.
