Cannot buy the premium+bonus tome?

I had this issue. It started working properly once I turned my steam overlay back on. If you have it on steam, try this.

I'd like to add my voice to the people asking about purchasing through the webstore like crowns? I like NOT having a way for a compromised account to start raiding my CCs (and my kids definitely don't need that enabled)

Are we just not fixing this for PC (non-Steam)?

I can't add a billing method *because that's what's not working right now* on the website. It doesn't appear to actually be saving updated billing information, unless it's PayPal. Updating credit and/or debit card info is doing *nothing*.

Just going to also note that trying all the stuff in this thread to fix this has also removed my credit card for subscription renewal, so that's going to be a thing here in few weeks.

I was hoping for confirmation that the current issues with purchasing on PC would be at least mentioned in the Dev Blog, but it's just more stuff about Steam.

I made a thread the other day asking if they'll have it available to buy directly on the ESO Store and Steam in the future. (Won't link it in case that breaks a rule)

Surprisingly zero comments or even Agrees so far, even though it seems like everyone is having trouble with the current system across a bunch of different threads about it.

I for one don't want to troubleshoot a payment. If something is paid, it should be hurdle-free to buy.

Same here. Years ago when steam started to get really popular, I created a separate steam account and run steam from there. Also use the Steam cards to prevent any info leaking out as games are one of the most likely places to encounter hostile developers and players. So games are consonantly getting attack to gain personal into to use against the users. PvP games are famous for this.

Steam will charge you sales tax , if applicable when you pay from your steam wallet. They are, and have been required to do so for a while now.

This is like such a legendary example of fumbling the bag. People (including myself...) literally want to give ZOS money but cannot. It is such an insane situation.

Steam user, with the overlay enabled, still getting "The transaction has failed" after pressing the Upgrade button on the Tomes UI for the 10th time (because the other 9 times did nothing).

I have to update my CC details for ESO+ soon.

There is no way I am going to add info for paying for tomes if this is causing some people issues with their ESO+ details as well.

There needs to be other ways to get the premium tomes other than through the game directly.

There needs to be an option similar to the way we can pay for crowns.

Some of us don't feel confident with how secure the current system is.

UPDATE for Steam users:

Success!

However, I had to circumvent actually using Steam, heh. Rather, I launched the game directly from eso64.exe rather than opening it like normal through Steam. It will bring up the login splash screen but you must supply your own login credentials manually.

The path on Windows is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client

From there, the Tome UI Upgrade button worked responsively and did the deed.

This is what I would consider to be a WORKAROUND, however. And the process should 100% be cleaned-up so that you can buy it from Steam directly like Crowns and the old Chapters, etc..

@ZOS_GinaBruno Can we get an official update on whether the team has any interest in making the tome upgrades available on the webstore or if in-game-real-money is the expected path forward for things now?

that seems to be the big remaining question, as there seem to be workarounds for most of the overlay purchase issues it looks like

Added payment info to the account, getting "Transaction failed" when I try to buy it. Using the non-Steam version on PC. Why it's not just a regular account upgrade/service is beyond me.

Edit: Of course it worked right after posting my complaint.
