I was just playing ESO this morning, I came back to my computer at lunch time and the launcher said it needed to update, so I clicked update. And after that it has insisted that I do not have permission to open the ESO launcher and that I have to contact my administrator. I'm on my personal computer at home, there is no one who could change settings on my computer while I was away from it for a couple of hours. I don't know what to do! I desperately want to finish some things during the Anniversary event. I need this working TODAY. What do I do? I tried restarting my computer, it didn't help. I tried redownloading the game but when I click the 'set up' file that comes out of the zip file that it downloaded, it just does this little 'downloading installer components' and then nothing happens, there are no new files to be found anywhere. I don't know what to do!!!!!! Heeeelllppp!!!

sounds like write permissions issues. if you were on linux i would give you a chown command to remedy that. on windows i have no idea... sorry.

I'm on an apple computer. 2019 Mac OS Big Sur 11.6 with an intel core processor. So far I haven't had issues running then game, until whatever this little launcher update did.

The launcher is in the Zenimax Online folder in the Applications folder. I tried removing it and then running the set up file, and it still didn't do anything. I removed the whole Zenimax Online folder and tried running the set up thing and it still didn't do anything.

I keep trying to run the eso set up file, it breifly shows the "Elder Scolls Online Installer" as an application that is running, but as soon as it's done downloading installer components, it just disappears, nothing else happens, the application isn't running anymore, there are no new files, so I can't even reinstall it.

I checked the permissions and it shows I should have permission.

Strange. On my machine (2022 Mac Studio M1 Max), the launcher was updated too today, but afterwards, it restarted itself without any issues and I was able to start the game, just like always...
