Laundered two jewelry pieces both for 45g - then at normal vendor they are worth 1g each?

    Generally speaking to prevent bots from picking up non-theft marked gear and the like and selling to vendors infinitely.
    All gear picked up from models placed in the world are one tier lower than your character level (or something similar), and when not marked as stolen are a pittance. Or something similar.

    Why not just fence them, if all you wanted to do was sell them? I always understood laundering to be for items you wanted to use/trade.

    I laundered them so i could deconstruct them for materials and increasing jewelrycrafting skill, now as they are worth 1g at vendor they provide very little of both. Totally different case if they were worth 45g.

    This, although I seldom launder things like gear or treasure maps, since I can just deconstruct or use them "for free" instead of paying a fee to launder them before deconstructing or using them.

    The exception would be if it's something I want to stick in the bank so one of my other characters can deconstruct or use it, which would require laundering the item first.

    But anything you're planning to just sell anyway should be fenced rather than laundered.

    I was planning to put them in bank for another character to have them and use them for deconstructing.

    I sometimes do that if I'm leveling-up a given character's level in a crafting skill line, or if a given character has a much better chance of recovering mats from deconstruction.

    But these days I usually just deconstruct the stolen gear on whichever character had looted it, since most of my characters have either maxed out all of the crafting skill lines or else I'm content to let them progress at a slower rate by doing writs and deconstructing the rewards.

    So i did some more thieving, and got a ring worth 46g at fence, and laundered it. This time the laundering was good:

    That's odd. I guess the difference in the rings is the other two had enchants on them and this one doesn't.

    That is indeed odd. You'd think if anything that the enchanted rings could be sold for more.

    My personal approach is to pass on items with the intricate trait, since these level you up faster. It's one reason to do daily writs, as quite often you'll get intricate items in the rewards. The only other thing would be if I know the trait is one my other character needs to learn.
