Dear Zeni Claus,
Here is a small list of thing I would personally like to see in the future, that I think would breath some fresh life into a game so many have been enjoying for the past decade.
Crossplay - This is supposedly being worked on already.
Updated Character Customization - A higher polygon count for character faces. More sliders to allow for more and better face shapes.
Extended categories for cosmetics: The many new unique eye textures that have been added in the last few years are awesome, but that they share a category with face markings seems odd, and means you cannot equip them with face markings. Eyes, Makeup, Face Markings, and Scars should be distinct categories from each other, as well as Body Scars and Body Markings. A possible step beyond this would be to also separate the Markings categories into Paints and Tattoos, allowing Paints/Makeup to layer over Tattoos which layer over Scars.
Extended Housing Features - Construction parts that snap together Fallout 4/Starfield style, to more swiftly and cleanly assemble houses from scratch, since numerous pieces to make buildings from scratch have been introduced in the last few years.
Expanded Furnishing Limitations.Expanded Scribing - Give Players more things to work with and more things to make. I don't even care if they're under powered, I want to summon Atronachs and have Oakflesh and Elemental Cloaks like were originally shown off in the 2014 Spellcrafting demo.
Quake Con 2014 Spellcrafting Demo (sorry, but I could not find a standalone version of this demo, this link should start at the correct timestamp though)Central Skyrim Region - I get that they want to hide where TES 6 might potentially take place (Seeing as Hammerfell hasn't been touched since the Thieves Guild DLC, my guess is it will be one of the regions in TES 6), but we've had a playable full map of Skyrim for 14 years now, there's no excuse to keep hiding Central Skyrim from us. So long as it isn't more vampire stuff I'll be happy. There have been more then enough vampire DLCs. (
I will immediately contradict this sentiment with my next request, but the next request doesn't require Central Skyrim, just a different piece of Skyrim).
Dawnguard DLC - As established in the Dawnguard DLC for Skyrim, there was an original incarnation of the Dawnguard which existed in the 2nd Era. It would be nice to meet them, and maybe do a quest or 2 for them, and get something resembling the Dawnguard Armor from Skyrim.
New Weapon TypesPole Weapons - Spears/Halberds/Quarterstaves:
I get that making new weapons for all existing motifs would be difficult, and is something the Devs have stated is one of the biggest hurdles preventing them from adding any sort of usable Polearm weapon to the game, but all existing motifs have both Daggers and Staves, so in theory you could shortcut it by just replacing Staff tips with Dagger blades, or alternatively just not add Spears to those old motifs save for the core vanilla motifs, and have them on any new motifs to maybe be added to older ones later.
One-Handed & Spell/Dual-Wield Spells:
This would not require new weapon model assets, just spell effects for the hands, meaning that updating motifs would not be an issue at all. Just give them the same elements as existing Destruction Staves, and unique Skill Trees. There could even Restoration variants of the Skill Trees.
Unarmed Combat/Martial Arts/Fist Weapons:
I'm not going to propose full-on D&D Monk style no weapon builds as many seem to advocate for, as it seems like it would create balancing issues if someone where to have nothing in their weapon slot, but rather would like to propose a skill tree which would add general use Stamina abilities like punches, kicks, legs sweeps, and shoulder bashes.
For those who want to play a more D&D-esque Monk style builds, add Fist Weapons. If making new models for old motifs is a concern, a quick and dirty workaround would be to not use models for them, and have them just be "stat sticks". Of course, being One-Handed weapons, this may cause too many problems due to using them in conjunction with existing One-Handed weapons, as then there would need to be even more trees. Perhaps simply rolling them into the existing One-Handed trees as weapons with the same timing, range, and skills, but unique animations would be the solution.
Expanded Interactive Mechanics - Many interactive features added in prior DLCs have seemingly appeared less and less in each successive DLC, especially those added in the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood DLCs when the Crime System was introduced.
Hiding Spots,
Guards with Lamps,
Restricted Areas,
Hidden Caches,
Grappling Crossbows, etc.
For Grappling Crossbows, we are introduced to the device on multiple different occasions throughout a number of DLCs, only for it to vanish in the next DLC as if it never existed. Do we just give it up after each of the DLCs where it's used? I propose adding Grapple Points across the world and giving Players more to explore with the Grappling Crossbow. Make the Grappling Crossbow a Base Game Feature!
Absolutely Minor Requests:Fix Knee-Length Robes causing Greave/Boot Models to completely disappear. This used to not happen, but now it does, and it breaks the looks of a lot of Outfits. Shorter Knee-Length Robes do not do this for the most part, but anything that seems to even slightly hang below the top of the knees does.
Fix Floating Tabard Tails. When they were first introduced, the rear tail for Tabards was not broken like this, but during some update early on it was broken and apparently has flown under the radar for all these years.
Add Lower Robe Options to Legs. Much like how Light Armor Chests are split into Robes and Jerkins, Light Armor Legs should be split into Pants and Robes. This would simply give more Outfitting options at minimal cost to produce.Remove Crown Store Dyes. They're simply pointless and annoying, and getting free ones is especially annoying because then I have to delete them to clear inventory space. I can't think of why anyone would use them.Add Armor/Weapon Displays for Houses. Some display dummies, and stands like those in Skyrim's houses would be much appreciated for showing off collected armors and weapons.Add Player Guild Banners, Mounts, and Costumes. This has already been done for Alliances, and I think would make a great addition for Player Guilds. Especially for Player Homes/Guild Halls. I can foresee some obvious issues with this, as Players can leave or be kicked from Guilds, but it would be cool to have something more than just Tabards.Add Cloaks and Capes. They don't even need stats, just let them be cosmetics. Could even tie in with the expanded Guild swag mentioned above.
