New groups of enemies sighted: Death Hunters

Twice now, I run into small groups of three NPC enemies called Death Hunters. Both times in base-game zones in location I have never seen them before. One was near the Blacksmithing Survey location in Greenshade, the other near the Alchemist Survey location in Riverspire. Are these part of the new quests for the New Life Festival? Or already a peek for next year's update? Or where to already always there and have I just never encountered them before?

MATH_COW✭✭✭They are not new. I always believed they are special event spawn if you have a vampire or a werewofl curse, like they are hunting you.
As the same but opposite, sometime you see 3 humanoid tired with corpse around (which I guess are death hunters who failed, as when you meet death hunter alive there is also corpse around them) then when you come closer they transform into werewolf and attack you.
So maybe you have one of those curse or just another player did them spawn without killing them.An Imperial Cow Warden | PC-EU0 -

✭✭Death Hunters have existed in base game but they are always just corpses, with a pair of travellers (werewolves) having just slain them.
Greymoor introduced the reverse, being groups of Death Hunters stood around a corpse of a dead werewolf, who will attack anyone who is also a wolfie.PC EU

✭I started running into them as well - or an enemy I hadn't seen before - even though I wasn't using a vamp/wolf at the time, just a Breton Sorc. I assumed they had something to do with Solstice given the weird statue thing that you have to destroy afterwards.0
