Sure you can. If the master writ you pull from the stack has an expensive trait material behind it, then it's also worth more writ vouchers making it worth more coin. So sell that one, purchase a cheaper one, and voila.. profit, vouchers in your pocket, and some endeavors. I normally just sell all the durable master writs I get every day, but today I didn't want to spend the time the other endeavors would take so I choose to do one, thinking it would be fast. This just reinforced to me why I never do these. I won't make that mistake again.
But I still don't understand why durable writs are so much more more costly to do than consumables.

that works for styles, but not traits. i'm assuming they needed one for a jewelry writ. quite a few of those are not worth the cost for the vouchers. i would have gone for woodworking, personally
