Durable Master Writs just aren't worth the cost and trouble

I normally just do consumable master writs because they are quick and easy and don't require a lot of costly upgrade and trait items to craft. But today I wanted a quick 3rd endeavor so I picked one up.

Well it wasn't quick because I had to run around to find the trait item and had 1 less upgrade mat than it said I needed but I took a chance and luckily it worked.

Please make these more in line with the time and cost of doing consumable master writs.

You couldn't just pick up one of a bajillion durable master writs for a few pennies that don't require expensive mats? It takes more work to find a master writ requiring expensive mats than finding cheapo easy ones.

I do not find them particularly costly. I do them for writ vouchers, so for me it's worth it. If I do not know the motif on my main (which is not very often) I usually simply delete the writ. For most writs I have the trait items through normal gameplay. The ones I do not (triune for example) I do not do. Unless it's a gold writ, then I simply buy the trait item if I fancy doing it.

My main crafter knows all the traits and there are complete crafting tables at our guild house, so that isn't the problem. But the one today needed a trait item I did not have, so I had to hunt some down.

Now that most writs for sale are "unknown" we can't always choose an easy one.

Really depends on the writ and your own material situation. I have an ample amount so for me it's not an issue. For someone without the resources I could definitely see them thinking it isn't worth it.

I'll just stick with the consumable master writs. But there really shouldn't be such a big difference in the cost and amount of mats needed for the durable ones.

Sure you can. If the master writ you pull from the stack has an expensive trait material behind it, then it's also worth more writ vouchers making it worth more coin. So sell that one, purchase a cheaper one, and voila.. profit, vouchers in your pocket, and some endeavors. Win on all fronts.

if a master writ needs a trait material i dont have on hand, ill just use one of those crown mimic stones (of which i have hundreds but rarely ever need to use them)

And if the consumable one turns out to be a master provisioner requiring one or more of the gold tier exotic ingredients, or a recipe locked behind a questline you haven't done yet? I'm not sure you can ever eliminate difficulty issues around anything connected to endeavours, simply because how hard/easy/cheap/expensive they are does depend to a significant extent on what each individual player spends time on.

that works for styles, but not traits. i'm assuming they needed one for a jewelry writ. quite a few of those are not worth the cost for the vouchers. i would have gone for woodworking, personally

Wait there are still expensive mats in this game? :D I mean even 250 vouchers is only 170k gold lately.

If you are not satisfied with blindly buying a writ from a guild trader, you could always keep a stack of unopened ones in your bank (the ones you get from doing your daily writs). Then, when you fancy doing one, start opening them until you find the one that you deem cheap enough to do. Sell the open ones that are too expensive to complete (I remember reading that you are in a guild with a trader, so that should not be a problem).

I normally just sell all the durable master writs I get every day, but today I didn't want to spend the time the other endeavors would take so I choose to do one, thinking it would be fast. This just reinforced to me why I never do these. I won't make that mistake again.

But I still don't understand why durable writs are so much more more costly to do than consumables.

Because they generally give more vouchers?

yeah thats what i meant lol

for jewelry ones i usually just let them sit until i get the material

certain material can get easier than others for that, but for any non-jewelry writ, trait material should be almost non issue
