Sellable/tradeable surveys

What!!
Thank you!!!

But also, had a question. Are the legacy ones going to be sellable? Or will they stay bound?

If we open them from the “unknown” envelopes will they bind then? Or will we be able to sell individual specific zone surveys?

Thank you!!!

More tradeable stuff in the game is a good thing. But I would guess selling the mats instead of the surveys will still get you way more gold.

We can confirm on monday, but from my understanding its only the new unknown ones that are tradeable. Once you crack them they would be bound.

The legacy ones will still be account bound.

That’s what I’m assuming as well, but thought I’d see if we could get some clarification. Especially on whether they’ll bind when opened.
Craglorn surveys would sell for much more than say Auridon lol

I also see a potential issue.... if they are only tradeable when in their "unknown" state, then you could end up buying surveys for Zones you cannot access.

Hopefully there will be some way of knowing this!!

I assume they'll use the same logic they have now.

I don't know if there is a bias toward drops currently that you are either barred from getting zones you don't have or if you can get surveys that you can't access, but I assume the logic of generating the surveys is still there. The only difference is that the survey location is decided when you open the envelope instead of when you open the reward box.

One thing I'd be interested to see though is that zone events have started to drop surveys for that specific zone, so will that continue to drop the bound surveys for that zone, or will they just drop random surveys now, or will they be removed entirely now?

    From the PTS:

This is what an unopened one looks like, a simple item that is tradable:

Opening it will generate a random bound survey:

While this is nice for new surveys not to take up many inventory slots, this does absolutely nothing for the surveys that already exist. It also does nothing for the horrible survey situation when it comes to actually picking up the resources. :(

This a great QoL feature. If we can't have a survey vendor where we exchange our surveys for mats, then this is a good compromise. Anything to reduce the inventory pressure and time spent harvesting instead of playing what's enjoyable is most welcome.

Seriously, if people don't want to do survey's then destroy your old ones and start selling the new ones. You are getting other rewards for doing your dailies, just consider this an unneeded bonus and ditch it. I do all my survey's once a week and I spend half a day doing them as well as grabbing other resources along the way. I have 18 characters doing all the dailies, and i am usually leveling 2 other characters when not doing these.

I appreciate what ZoS was trying to do with surveys but I feel like the (my) issue with them just shifted, rather than was resolved. Before, I had tons of stacks of surveys, waiting until I got a good chunk to do in a particular area. This took up a lot of space, clearly. Now, I have less space taken up, but I have to open ALL of them to see if I have a good number in any one zone. Which is a lot of clicking, and I'm back to a large amount of space being utilized again.
    1. If you did surveys as you got them, nothing changed. You'll still do them as you get them, meaning you basically have an extra click to see where you need to go.
    2. If you did surveys all at once, once you had a lot, a little changed. You'll save space until you're ready but once you're ready, you have to click a ton and then you go collect them all.
    3. If you discriminately collected once a specific zone reached a certain threshold, you now won't even know about it until you open everything and then you're basically back to where you were before this change was made.

    For #1:

If you’re like me and do daily crafting writs on all your alts before doing master writs on your main character, then you have to scroll down on each character to the Unopened section at the bottom of your inventory list to place them in your bank first. They used to be in Supplies closer to the top of your inventory.

Then, on your main character, you have to scroll down to the Unopened section of your bank, pull them all out, then scroll down in your inventory to Unopened and click to open each one, then scroll up to Supplies to see what they are, an annoying addition to my daily routine.

It’s a lot more than just one click.

Just a tip. If you are opening alot of surveys or master writs, type part of their name in the inventory filter, so that you only see the stack you are opening (for example write "unk" for master writs or "uni" for surveys).

This way you wount have to scroll down after every opened item. You just spam them ass we used to fillet fish :)

Lazy Writ Crafter can auto deposit surveys and writs into your bank.

As for withdrawing items from the bank, I use the Search field almost entirely by instinct anymore. It's just a habit I fell into that really speed things up. And on PS5 the virtual keyboard word prediction has learned to autofill "writ" after just typing the letter "w".

[Edit] The search tool works for depositing as well if you're adverse to using addons.

Fair enough! I use an addon on that auto-opens my crafting boxes so when I get to my bank, all the new stuff is at the top. So I deposit surveys, master writs, intricate gear for any of my lowbies, etc without having to do too much scrolling since it's all right there.

So I guess, regardless of which of the three ways you do surveys, this feature kinda missed the mark. :/

Yeah, I haven’t been using that addon because of the problem with addons initially with consoles and the fact that I think it opens boxes automatically for you. Call me crazy, but I like to see what I am getting to know how to organize and I like to use a different racial style with each character.
