How often do you Gift Crown Store Items?

I support the guilds of my friends by giving gold and stuff I earn (like crafting motif, prints,...). The same way, I support the trading guild I'm in by giving relatively big amounts of gold regularly.

Generally, the players I know prefer to get helped with their guilds than getting presents.

Wow…it seems like I’ve seen you posting on the forms for forever about a lot of topics! I really would have thought they would have enabled gifting for you long before now!

I have only gifted during the annual gift-thread here on the forums. I save my sub-crowns for it too, but this year I have barely subbed, so it won't be a lot.
I do however buy crowns with gold for myself. Just bought Sweetwater cascades yesterday for 1500:1 gold on pc eu.

Crown Store items are cosmetic. I prefer to give something useful, like making a crafted set, or helping with dungeon runs for dropped ones.

If they would end up giving me the option down the line, I'd likely gift fairly often. Probably once a week/ 2 weeks. On Birthdays, holidays and major life events of friends. I like gifting. Plus I'd love to be a trusted crown gifter for gold. I live for fashion in games and when I make a good fashion set, there's always the one item that's out of my reach due to lack of gold lol

I don't even buy crown store items. So I wouldn't be able to gift anything either.

That said, gifting is a feature that ZoS themselves implemented. It was their idea. And then they were the ones who introduced restrictions. And those restrictions are to a large degree, completely understandable. But the process behind enabling gifting isn't very transparent. And of course, I imagine the amount of people gifting has gone down, since well... people stopped being able to gift.

I personally still don't understand why players can't have a clear and well defined list of conditions that make an account eligible to have gifting enabled. The entire issue at the moment is that people have to play some sort of guessing game. Apply, reapply. Every forum thread about is just a bunch of speculation, most of it useless, other people playing the same guessing game of "why is this ancient account that has been part of multiple trading guilds, is active 24/7 since the literal release of the game not showing consistent activity?"

It seems that whatever criteria they use is already strict enough to not have to hide it as some additional security measure. I doubt that criminal elements with brand new accounts are going to suddenly accumulate X amounts of hours just because they read they need to, or acquire a lengthy log of guild and trading activity, or whatever else.

My baseless speculation is that regions play a role in this whole thing and are one of the reasons ZoS are not particularly transparent about this. A big, if not major, part of the reason gifting was restricted is that people would gift from poorer regions and "abuse" the exchange rates, buying crowns for cheaper and then gifting to other regions with higher prices. Of course costing ZoS a chunk of profit in the process. And I would not be surprised, if even now, ZoS look into people's regions when considering whether to enable gifting or not. Which... as long as the player is otherwise following the ToS, is kind of discriminatory. IF that happens. Which, how would we know if ZoS don't tell us.

I think I've gifted something maybe 3 or 4 times to close friends or my wife. It was a few years ago before this whole gifting lockdown. I haven't needed to gift anything in a while, and seeing other's experiences, it's not something I'm interested in pursuing.

Not all Crown Store items are cosmetic. I gifted someone a zone DLC once, gifted someone else a class, and gifted someone a limited-time house-- but I received gold in exchange for the house, so I don't consider that to be "gifting" per se.

I bought some crown items before, but its many years ago, the problem with the crown store and crates is that I have loads of stuff, for me to buy something it has be be better in some way than that I have.

I don't gift at all since ZOS AI has decided that 10 years of active play with multiple guilds and zero violations doesn't qualify. Guess I'll continue sitting on 47k crowns because I really don't personally want anything from the crown store.

I have the ability to gift but I don’t think I ever have. I just requested it since the opportunity arose and I’d rather have it than need it and not have it.

Oooh noo don't say that! They don't use AI cause all are checked by hand!!! That's why we always get the same exact answer when we getting denied right :') ?

    Other from poll:
Not anymore since they still won't allow the gifting for over 8 months....
I have given up on trying to get it back... Even cancelled my eso+ renewal due to this. In the end it's a big loss to them and not for me :)
I rather now spend the money on buying gifts at other companies then here on ESO.

I'd like to, but I am not allowed and I'm not willing to ask permission because I got scared by the horror stories some told of being banned without a reason - were those true or not, I don't know, but still, better not to risk, just like with typing in chat and AI moderation...

I do quite a bit - either “gifting” between my accounts depending on where I have Crowns available, or gifting prizes to members of Sunfire’s Sect trade guild* (e.g. lottery prizes).

I've gifted some. More when I had more friends playing the game: a birthday gift, or a DLC dungeon for someone in my dungeon group who didn't have ESO+ at the time, etc. When my partner and I are both playing, sometimes I will gift him things I see that he likes as a surprise.

A lot of guildees I've talked to have agreed it's not worth the hassle after finding out many long-term players can't gift. With the time limit on items, a lot of time it's not worth putting in a ticket. The item will be gone before any gifting issue is or isn't resolved.

Just saw this. Yeah, I don't know what the criteria is, but playing daily for at least 4 years now, all zones in the game completed (quests, landmarks, etc.), belonging to 3 guilds, participating in guild events, some PvP achievements, IA, ToT (though infrequently), doing dungeons daily, participating in all events, apparently doesn't qualify you as being active enough to have gifting enabled. :)

Yeah, the whole thing makes little to no sense. I brought my wife in to the game 10 years ago. Neither of us have ever had a TOS violation. We belong to the same guilds and run similar content. We both play regularly. She has two accounts, one can gift the other can't. I tried to send her a gift and was surprised to find that I couldn't. Even more surprised when I was denied and told to play regularly and then reapply. I looked at the logs, I have over 429 days played, 1696 hours in the last year alone...hmm? I don't get it.

the gifting mechanic primarily gets used by crown sellers on third party websites

    zos knows this

    we all know this

the economy in eso is completely run by the gold and crown cartels, gold is absolutly worthless and the inflation of items on the auction house is insane

its been like this for many years tho so i doubt anything will change, things will just keep getting more expensive
