Future of xbox ESO community

I'm sure you've heard the price of game pass is increasing so is the price of consoles. Will the already dwindling xbox ESO community vanish?

Unlikely, but if Crossplay brings along Cross-Save you will likely see a lot of your friends switch platforms.

On another note, it’s funny how Game Pass now includes a Fortnite sub, but couldn’t be bothered to include ESO+, Fallout 1st, or WoW?

I was thinking that. I heard Gamepass now includes subscriptions or perks for several Microsoft games and I was suprised ESO isn't on the list.

Remember: ESO base game is included in ALL GamePass tiers, even Essential. So it's basically given away to every Xbox Console gamer. Still, population of EU server is extremely low.

Sure that might mean something if the game isn’t practically given away several times a year on steep discounts irregardless of Game Pass.

That said, ESO has worse monetization than many
F2P games, might be time to take the leap like Destiny did years ago.

All you need is the lowest tier Game Pass to play online.

that is true the lowest tier sub only went up by $2.00 AU so yeah I'll probably switch to that. the only reason I have ultimate rn was the 10% discount on crowns but they removed that perk yesterday. Eso is the only game I play if I ever want another game I'll just buy it.

I already downgraded from ultimate to standard when the price went up last Fall. I would be very happy if they wrapped ESO+ into the deal with any price hike. I'm honestly surprised you didn't get it with Ultimate in the first place.

SAME - I have payed in advance Ultimate until January 2026; after that date I will downgrade. I just play ESO and the only other game I'll likely buy is Forza Horizon 6, 'cause Japan. I'd keep Ultimate if ESO+ would be included - no reason otherwise.

Anyway, ESO is basically free to any Xbox and PC player now, since the GamePass Essential now is comprehensive of Console, PC and Cloud. No need to push for a free-to-play model, which would likely come with its own issues.

EDIT: I've heard many WoW players that don't have any GamePass say they would have subbed to Ultimate if it included WoW subscription.
Maybe ESO and WoW would have been a better addition than Fortnite?

For Xbox players who want to play other games online it's basically free, since you need Gamepass to do that. (If you're only playing ESO on your Xbox then you're basically paying the Gamepass subscription to play ESO so it's not free.)

For PC it's not such a good deal, because you don't need to pay a subscription to get your PC online (other than your internet service, obviously) and the base game costs is the same as two months of game pass, so it would quickly be cheaper to just buy the game, unless you want Gamepass for other reasons.
