Poll: Should the 3 banners war in cyro end after the next chapter?

PvP populations even prior to the undaunted/vengeance events has been low and isn't like when it was years ago where there would be massive battles has died down to small groups taking keeps. With how the story currently is should cyro's pvp be removed, kept as it is, or have a suggestion that would help bring cyro back alive.

Edit:
I also should make it clear, this is mainly based on how the story is going and not just on pvp population being lowered. I myself want to see cyro keep going but made this poll out of curiosity to see how others feel about cyro and maybe bunch together a bunch of suggestions. Seeing that at the time of this edit that there is 0 votes for removal actually makes me happy to see that people still want it. This isn't about removing it entirely.

Also a bit of a theory Is the campaign called Vengeance a hint of the future story of ESOs next chapter?
(Not taking server performance into this, just cyro in general)

Should all PvE be eliminated from ESO? Sounds great to me so maybe I should make a poll too.

Tempted to do that, nothing but open world pvp from here on :D

Its mostly just out of curiosity and a discussion. Especially with how the story is going but who knows could be a new war in the future.

I think PVP should kept, but updated:

Now that the planemeld has ended, the daedra lose control of the Imperials of Cyrodiil and Imperial City. The Imperials (and those who choose to ally with them) then regroup to eliminate the remaining daedra and work to push out the invading alliances.

Proposal: Update PVP to add a fourth alliance. For Cyrodiil, have their base in the center surrounding Imperial City, but with no keeps to themselves - they have to capture the keeps from the alliances.

For Imperial City, have the faction around the tower in the center. From there, they have to push outward to capture the districts.

I'm not a fan of mmo games discontinuing content just because it's niche. Let the PvPers have their fun. But I wouldn't be opposed to the three banners war being ended narratively and PvP getting some updates to make it more exciting. The core gameplay should remain though.

I'll let PvPers suggest what those should be since I'm not a big PvPer. Idk what they would most find fun.

A discussion of how to improve cyro pvp might have drawn some interest, though there are a zillion of those types of posts already and they tend to devolve into a slew of different opinions - it might be best to focus on one or a few more specific pvp issues at a time to get a good discussion going. But I'm sure many pvp'ers have suggestions to discuss. Asking the question in this way is just going to provoke people, however. Coming from a very part-time pvp player, no they should not remove cyro pvp, they should listen to what that community wants and put in the necessary work to improve the game mode.

I would be in favor of the liberation of Cyrodiil if we got a new map better designed for the large scale PvP vision they have in mind.

I’m sick and tired of fighting over the same keeps, over the same choke points, it’s boring after a decade.

I'm in favor of this: keep Cyro pvp, maybe update to make it funner. Same with ic. Don't take game modes away.

Instead, first make a completely separate IC, post planemeld and 3 banners war as a story DLC or chapter or season or whatever they call it now. Regular IC still there. Don't change anything. The story DLC wouldn't have the quests from pvp IC. It would be a separate thing. Continue the story like that. Not taking away, but adding. Then do the same thing for a part of Cyrodil. To my thinking, blocking off the biggest section of the map and saying this is gone forever, and that spot having some of the most iconic Elder Scrolls locations, is crazy. Just crazy.

Making a pve IC as it is now just so people can do the quests or taking away pvp zones is crazy and shouldn't be done.

Personally, I think it would be interesting if the alliance leaders attempted to reach peace but, instead found that significant sections of their armies and the forces backing them were unwilling to go along with it which leaves the war in a position where it continues but, outside the control of the faction leadership.

The reality is that many of the factions have committed war crimes and the victims of those war crimes may not be willing to drop the fight just because the ruler who hasn't suffered decides that they want the war to stop. Additionally, some of the parties are fighting for a profit motive and again will not necessarily be willing to quit when they are still profiting from the war.

This would allow you to have the story move forward while also keeping the war going. You could also use it as an excuse to update and contract the map a bit which will somewhat cut down on the travel times in Cyrodiil and open up some of the map for being used as future DLC.

They should make a new map for the same format.

The Cyrodiil map is too big for the population the gamemode attracts, it needs to concentrate them better to let the big battle gameplay actually happen.

i think a map the size of imperial city is actually pretty good, but IC has its own problems (such as the restricted respawn issue) that actually stifles fights instead of lets them rage on until people get bored

i do like the siege gameplay of cyro though, but i would agree that it might be a better idea to try to keep pop caps high, but reduce the map size to maybe 5 keeps (one home keep for each alliance and then a central keep that you have to take to become emperor)

that would concentrate people fighting so it would fix another issue people have with cyro (the one about being a riding sim due to the vast distances between keeps)

Big fights are fun but honestly Cyrodiil needs incentive changes to spread the population out better around the map rather than concentrating everyone in the same location. Like, even in bare-bones Vengeance 1 people were getting input lag, rubber-banding, and server kicks in those 300v300v300 fights.

This is the biggest problem to me, ignoring stuff like balance changes and heal stacking. There was only one year where pvp was very worth playing, and that was the introduction of the three big new sets, Plaguebreak, Hrothgar's Chill, and Dark Convergence, not just because they were so good but because they sold so well. You got rich selling these.

It offered a way to kill zergs, ballgroups, and tanks. Was one of the most fun and active Cyro cycles besides the earliest days of pvp. Though the covid bump also helped.

edit: Not sure how i misinterpreted the post this much lol my bad, incentive for going around the map is a lot different than what I was talking about, but I'll let it stand because this is true.

If they can’t get the population caps up while maintaining performance and fun gameplay, then yes Cyrodiil should be shut down and a new smaller zone should take it’s place.

Cyrodiil is way too large for 300 or less total players. A free for all map where only your group members are allies or just a new AvAvA zone that’s 1/3 the size of Cyrodiil would work better.

Unfortunately that zone would die too at some point if balance and combat remains as it is or doesn’t improve.

They just need to make the map smaller and with all the fighting in and around imperial city with no doors/load screens and multiple ways inside.

We should be fighting over the ruins like in the original trailer of the city at this point. Factions holding bases/spawns inside that are to hard to just steamroll from one another and are huge fights, with lots of LOS so fights become isolated more often.

And all major and minor buffs that are still 30% and 15% should be nerfed to 10% 5% respectfully lol (regen, expedtion, force)

Create a campaign as dlc that is only PvE, new quests, story, etc in cyrodil.

    Keep greyhost as is.

Why do they need to remove something or change something.

    Just add MORE.

Speaking of PvP. Just add old bg’s back.
Again, that was something that was replaced.

Nothing should ever be replaced. Just add more stuff.

It seems pretty obvious to me that Vengeance is meant to avenge all the long years of frustration caused by lag, the biggest nemesis of the PvP community and the devs who had to suffer through all those performance-related posts. It has nothing to do with PvE stories and realms imho.

They won't be able to do that even from a story perspective alone. Combine that with their recent attempts to tinker with PvP and that's a resounding no, they seem to be interested in revitalising the mode somehow and bring people who have left or weren't able to get in for one or another reason boiling it down to it's essence, doesn't really sounds like they have some plans to discontinue the mode/zone, more like add some other option for ones who were left out for years.

Look at their card game, there's like 10 or so observable dedicated players total, it's still part of the game and would probably be for foreseeable future.

Narratively, yes, it should end, but not gameplay-wise. Ever since the end of the Orsinium DLC, ZOS has tried to continue this idea that the entire of ESO takes place in a single year: 2E 582. This is just absurd given how much content keeps getting released and makes the whole narrative utterly unbelievable. What do you mean the alliances were hosting peace talks in High Isle to end the "horrible bloodshed" of... several months of fighting? It just doesn't make sense. Not even roleplayers adhere to this because of how foolish it is.

ZOS should abandon the notion that ESO takes place in a single year and revise all the in-game text they've added since the end of Orsinium correcting the timeline, and then end the Three Banners War with some kind of narrative arc so that there's not this decades-long war in Tamriel's history that seemingly no one talks about or remembers centuries later.

That being said, the gameplay of Cyro PvP should stay. It's a staple of the game and most PvPers I know play Cyro, not Battlegrounds. They'd be angering a big chunk of their playerbase by removing it, especially since it's a rather unique aspect of ESO compared to other big MMOs. And also because it offers a lot of possibilities for expansion in terms of mechanics (e.g., supply caravans, opening the Imperial City, etc). Why remove it when you can build on it?

Isn't the game permanently stuck set in 582 year of the second era, war doesn't end until the 601 year of the second era.

Even if they do some time travel shenanigans, to conclude the war, I don't like the idea of a game mode being removed just because it isn't the most played by the entire player base, would rather see how all these vengeance tests work out, to hopefully fix some of the issues with Cyrodill's PVP.
