Volenfell quest bugged

Once you get to the lever in the Guardian’s skull and pull it, the quest does not progress. It stays stuck on “pull the lever in the guardian’s skull” even after the lever has been pulled. Happened twice on a low level toon and another person in group had the same issue.

✭This can happen if multiple people try to pull the lever in a group on a shared quest. There are a few of these in the game that behave this way.
IIRC there are two switches to be pulled here, yes? The person who pulls the first one must pull the second as well. If someone else does it first, the quest will bug out. I've also seen this happen when the person who is running the quest/has to pull the switch didn't manage to get a hit on the boss because of a speed runner.- Tybalt Kaine Khajiit Nightblade Aldmeri Dominion

It’s still a bug though that the quest stops if the second lever is pulled by another person… a bug that I guess is celebrating its tenth anniversary.0 -

To the point where I had to write "DONT TOUCH THE LEVER" in group chat. Even had a guy go out of his way to pull the lever faster than me to troll.
My advice:
Just abandon the quest, and hop in solo with a self heal slotted (vigor, assault skilline). The dungeon stories are really good but it's a shame they aren't implemented with impatient groupmembers in mind.0 -
allochthons✭✭✭✭✭Yeah, this is a known issue. I always ask folks to let me pull the levers (Kronk!), but I can't complete the quest about 50% of the times I try in a pug.
The only real way to make sure it works is to go in with a group that knows you're questing, and knows how to not get the bug.
Even when I do get the levers pulled, they often speed-run so fast I can't talk to the quest giver in time, so the quest fails anyway. I loathe that quest. I like the dungeon, but the quest is the worst!

The devs are going back through base-game areas and making them prettier. Please fix ALL the base-game dungeons, so they can be completed even if the group speed-runs! More than Volenfell have bugs like this.She/They

As long as the other player(s) who "have" the quest pulls the levers... it won't glitch.
This dungeon is easy to solo on normal (challenging, but not impossible on veteran). There is no "speed run" on normal... just your typical impatient kid who tries to go through it ASAP, without regard to someone who needs to interact with NPC's during the quest (and possibly not knowing about the bug). Just do it solo on normal, before you try to group with people on veteran! 🙂0 -
