i went to login here and had to reset the password.

it requires a minimum of 12 characters.

the point of a password is something people can REMEMBER so they can easily login to an account.

requiring an excessively long password along with case sensitive and other requirements defeats the purpose of a password.

this isnt the CIA, or FBI, or NASA... there are no real security threats. relax the password requirements so that the average person can remember it. otherwise, people have to write it down or frequently need to reset their password. a password that is so complex that it has to be written down defeats the fundamental reason for a password since anyone who finds the written down password can then gain access to the account.

Or you could use a password manager - there are a couple of decent ones out there (check recent reviews/articles on cybersecurity). These days, short passwords are easily cracked and definitely insecure, so length is important.

The "point" of a password is not to be easy to remember (or guess), but to secure access to one's account. It's important to use strong passwords, and 12 characters is a pretty standard requirement these days. (I would bet the CIA requires quite a bit more authentication than a 12 character password).

At this point you are either living with people you do not trust or you've had a break in...... if either of these is true then I suggest you have more to worry about than "written down" passwords!!
