Wait.. was there even any new grimoires or class sets announced?

Nope. The entire Livestream was a tour of Solstice, details about the Writhing Wall event, and Vengeance testing.

Light on combat changes sounds good to me. I've learned from experience to absolutely dread significant combat changes in the name of 'balancing'.

Unfortunately, “light on combat changes” is terrible to have for so long after throwing a nuke on balance.

If everything were good, sure, don’t fix what ain’t broken. But balance is very broken right now, and more going light on combat feels less like them not wanting to rock the boat and more like them just now realizing that Subclassing was not at all thought out before being unleashed and now they don’t know how to fix it.
…you know, almost like exactly what the PTS testers warned about

I would rather they go light on combat changes right now, personally. I don't think it has anything to do with them not knowing how to fix subclassing either. They usually give us a break after introducing a bunch of sweeping changes.

PvE weekly leaderboards going to be account based rather than class or whatever.
Less incentive to repeat content now, thanks zos.

Thanks for the write-up, this is useful to have all in one place!

I'm really excited for the quest ideas and how it'll turn out in practice. I've long said I missed how decisions could lead to different outcomes and worldstates up until ca. Murkmire, and this sounds very interesting. I'm curious how it'll look in reality.

Also, the zone looks really cool. Environmental design is top notch again, and that bone fortress is rad. And potentially letting us inhabit our own mini bone fortress is of course very wise. They know when they've got a good design on their hands.

My understanding was that 'we' expected it to be Necrom this year, rather than looping back to Daedric War. Was there any comment on why it will be the Daedric War instead?

You have to understand that after a big launch like subclassing that stirs the pot. The actual feedback they are going to get could be based on players simply not have any idea what is going on meta wise or theorycraft wise. Even in the higher tiers of pvp there are tons of players lost still trying combinations. You have to wait some time for the stew to settle after stirring the pot.
    • Best we do is try to point out major issues like being able to stack far more dots and timed effects together than before. For instance the main meta with assassin+animal combining an ult drop with merciless and deep fissure.
    • Or simply overloaded skills like how merciless bow scales about 25% more than most ultimates damage wise while being on a 4-5s cooldown. Take flight is the only slightly higher damage tooltip I can think of and even then it is on a 30-40s ult gen cooldown. Then considering the slottable passives of merciless it would far surpass takeflight.
We should use the insightful and awesome buttons more

And yet you give examples of problems right there: Merciless is overtuned. Assassin/Animal are used on pretty well every PvP build. And in PvE land, if you're not using Herald, you're doing significantly less DPS no matter what. And everyone feels the fact that running the three parent lines of a Class are nowhere near as powerful as a build that chooses to Subclass.

There's a difference between achieving perfect balance, and addressing it. But ignoring major issues is not the solution. After all, as a PvPer, I'm sure you have your own opinions about things like Rush of Agony and 12+ instances of Radiating/Vigor ticking on players - why is the combat team so adamantly refusing to address pain points that have been brought up over and over with the excuse "we need to see how things settle down."

I’ve come to realize I don’t like watching their streams. I’m sure they are all very nice people but I just want the facts and the crate. Better to have just made a forum post with a couple of screenshots and a headline “On PTS Monday September 15th”
2500 players didn’t need to tune in to hear for the fourth time this year “we’ll have more for you on a future stream”.

I am hoping for a repeat of the Necrom event in the hopes of being able to get the music box that we did not get because we chose the book furnishing instead.

I don’t know ZOS capacity but I hope they aren’t piling too many resources into the vengeance testing stuff. Not many PvPers want to play in a dumbed down environment. It’d be much better to focus on creating a healthy balance to Cyrodiil without subtracting from the game or people’s investment to it.

lol Merciless...it's pretty much useless...running around nitpicking players with 10 light attacks for an ez dodgeable skill
is a sure way to get killed. Moving Major Prophecy and Major Savagery from cloak to MR was basically an insult and felt like another targeted nerf due to subclassing's massive underdevelopment. yay fomo B)

There's some REALLY good gankers in Greyhost...on EP and DC. Haven't seen any of them use Merciless. There's some really good NBs in Greyhost - merciless - nada.

    Thumb twiddling ftw...
