I Need To Know

For more than a month now I've had this issue and need to know if there is a way to make it stop.

There was a Monday morning maintenance back in July or beginning of August where after my game updated every time I logout of the game it takes up to a minute or more for my game to fully logout and I want it to stop. The game fully closes but the button on my launcher stays greyed out with the word 'EUNNING' for nearly a gull minute or longer before rturning to the active word 'PLAY.' There have a been a few times where it goes straight to 'PLAY' like it always used to before that Monday morning maintenance but they have been very few and very FAR in between. X-ing out my launcher does not shorten the time at all and always gives me a pop up error message warning me of potential damage to my game files. It is annoying as [CENSORED].

How to stop this and get my game back to the way it used to be where I logout and immediately shutdown my PC like I used to be able to? Please let me know. Thank you.

    Just don't use the launcher.
Create a shortcut for your ESO64.exe and use that to immediately open the game. The only time I open the launcher at all is when I try to log in and it tells me I'm trying to use an outdated client.

While you're at it, you can also edit your .ini file so when you click on the .exe it immediately puts you in the log in page with none of the irksome splash screen animations.

I don't play through Steam though so no idea if this works if you do.

It's been like that since GR. The new launcher is a resource monster.

Yes, that's happened for a lot of us. I've discovered that if I open a browser (like Chrome, etc.), then launch the game while keeping the browser open, the Play button will be enabled as soon as I log out. So I do that now. I discovered this accidentally. I'll sometimes switch to a browser to look something up, and I noticed that if I didn't close the browser, the launcher would work like it did before.

Alternatively you can right-click the launcher in the taskbar and kill it by clicking "Close Window".

Of course, it would be better if ZOS would fix whatever they broke.

I'm not sure if there's a way to completely bypass the launcher when using steam, but I just close it immediately after hitting "play" and starting the game (unless it's patching - then obviously have to wait for the patch to complete). The launcher doesn't have to remain open while you're playing.

Suggest using a more specific post title that actually references the issue (like "Launcher hangs on exiting game") to get more responses and visibility for the issue - this will get lost in the forum noise as soon as it falls off of the top of the most recent posts.

Danke. I appreciate the feedback. I play via Steam and will give these suggestions a shot.

Ratter if the launcher says the game is corrupt always ignore it and start the game, you can also restart the launcher.
The launcher is wrong if the game start or you get an can not connect to server or any of the other login errors.
If you let the launcher repair the game it will re-download and install the entire ting.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Instead of us having to do work arounds, ZoS should just fix the problem. When we click the close button on the launcher, it should close. This concept should not be under debate.

This issue has been discussed so many times, that if ZoS does not know about the problem then they are hiding their heads in the sand.
