Furnishing vault limit needs a significant increase

Now that it's been live in game for some time, generating real-use performance metrics etc, can some serious consideration be put into bumping the limit up massively?

At a very minimum I'd say to 1000, if you want to err on the side of caution performance wise, but in that scenario you should still re-visit and increase again if the performance metrics support.

I can't help but get the impression that when devs came up with the 500 number, it was via something along the lines of "how many slots do we need to give to allow up to the 95th percentile of players to do away with bank houses". This is a terrible metric to base a choice of limit on, because the ones complaining the most are the ones in that last 5th percentile.

When the vault was released i went around all my bank houses and placed only the largest stacks in the vault. Vault was filled with only items where the stack size was 10+. After completing that process (it took about 3 days!) i'm still left with around 30 bank houses to cover the smaller item stacks.

One of the main benefits of the vault is supposed to be browsing and placing items directly. But I already have a good idea what most of the stuff in the vault looks like (because they are common items), so the benefit to browsing is minimal, it's the rarer items (smaller stack counts) that are beneficial to browse when looking for a furnishing but I can't do that as storing in the vault would be inefficient.

I'd like to be able to give you a realistic number by visiting each bank house and counting the unique stacks (after retrieving to inventory) but after 3 days to get stuff into the vault in the first place i just don't have any more energy to spend on it for now.

note: don't assume that anyone not at precisely 500 stacks in vault doesn't need this, I'm a little under just to allow space for new stacks of 10+. Probably anyone at ~450+ would benefit from this.

Increasing the limit of the Furnishing Vault won't help.

I don‘t even get how the 500 slots less worked before. Now I‘m exactly where I was before the Vault. I‘m trying to manage my 10 free slots in my bank again every day!

Another 500 slots would be nice but I doubt it will help longer than another 6 months…

Agreed. Maybe off-load some of those items in a garage sale or something if you have all of these basic items that you don't use for anything beyond collecting dust. I went to one a few weeks ago that someone was advertising in zone chat. More people should do that honestly.

The only thing that will help is to stop buying furnishings that there isn't a current need for and sell furnishings that have just been sitting around for years not being used.

One likes to have decorations on hand when decorating. But I agree that everything doesn’t need to be on hand for every build and such furnishings, if they’re worth keeping and/or can’t be sold, can be stored less accessibly.

There are furnishings that it makes sense to buy when not being used — Zenil’s luxury furnishings, Crown or Crate furnishings, and other limited availability. Of course, one shouldn’t buy only because an item is limited — there simply isn’t space — and I sold several such furnishings recently that I couldn’t see myself using. Bound furnishings are more challenging.

All that to say, you do have a point in that I don’t think it’s realistic to hope that we will be provided unlimited storage capacity for furnishings. BUT the extra slots DO help, so long as one approaches them properly, or at least this is my experience. I continue to try to acquire furnishings judiciously and store away what doesn’t need to be on-hand (the add-on Inventory Insight is great for finding particular furnishings, items, armor sets, etc.!) Thus, I have used the furnishing vault to free up bank space at the same time as I have access to more furnishings while working on a build.

I bought the furnished versions of most houses. Not because I wanted them furnished but because it seemed like a cost effective way to obtain a lot of furnishings.

Given those furnishings are crown, selling them isn't an option. Only option is to destroy them which completely negates the whole purpose of paying extra for the furnished versions of houses.

It now feels like I'm being punished with an impossible to manage furnishing inventory for wanting to actually support the game and spend real world currency?

At the very least crown furnishings need to have a seperate / significantly bigger limit.

for now I have no option other than to stop buying furnished houses - i have no way to deal with the extra furnishings. Surely this is undesirable? Zeni should _want_ to sell furnished versions?

I was going to post this a new thread, but I saw this answer in the AUA on reddit, though it's not exactly enough context to what it means.

Nick: "I love the ideas. Housing is one of my favorite parts of ESO, and we want housing to feel more alive, too. We're looking at increasing housing limits right now actually. It's a surprisingly large technical hurdle for us, but we're hoping to make improvements to give you more freedom in how you decorate your homes."

The only house I bought furnished was Serenity Falls Estate because it was the first house I got and I didn't know how to make furnishings yet. Since then I prefer unfurnished because I like to mix and match styles in all my houses.
