I would like to be able to turn it off too...

Usefull for some people I guess but for me I don't need and I find it annoying.

It's nice to add new feature like that but not nice to force them for people who don't want them.

Even the the name of zone on the map they added last update I would like to be able to turn it off, I know my geography and can see name of zone by just putting my mouse on them which show name on the top of the screen...

    No, not at this time.

Also another thing about these to be aware of: an addon (I'm pretty sure Harvest Map) will put a distance on every single node as long as you have the addon installed. Deactivating the addon does not make them go away.

yeah i noticed that. i have invisible distance markers, which are for nodes. it's not hugely annoying, but i'd prefer this distance marker to be turned off. i suppose an addon for that is coming

It was especially annoying for me because I had "Halt a Harrowstorm" as my active quest, which highlighted ALL the potential harrowstorm sites with constantly changing distances as I moved.

I really hate this new feature, I feel like I'm playing a bad open world solo game like Ubisoft or other major studios make by dozens on consoles, with a PNA system that prevents you from searching anything.
"Go in that direction, follow the minimap"

I don't care about the distance to the next quest starter or step, I want to search a little. Now TESO doesn't take you by the hand, it pulls you by the arm.

I haven't been on yet today, so thank you for the screenshot!

Although I'm thinking that distance is less helpful than directions, since we could be very close to something yet separated from it by impassable barriers, and the actual travel time needed to go around the barriers-- wait, this was the wrong way, turn back and go around the other way instead-- would be more helpful than distance as the crow flies.

I just had an extremely frustrating and rage-enducing experience trying to find and reach an Antiquity dig site in Hews Bane the other night, so much so that after 20 minutes of "too much fun" I ended up just abandoning the dig and re-scrying for a different site. This new distance indicator probably wouldn't have helped me very much.

But I appreciate the idea that the devs are wanting to help us out. :)

As I said earlier it's really irritating me...... with the recent addition of quest markers to the crafting tables whilst doing crafting dailies, it is literally just constantly pulling my attention to a mass of changing numbers at the top of my screen!

@ZOS_Kevin pls pass this to the team to see if it could be a toggle PLEASE! <3

+1 to this request, as unfortunately Blackreach's compass is now even more befuddling. In one respect this does help distinguish what has always been a peculiar multitude of icons down there, but I think I'd really benefit from a keybindable toggle to turn those text fields off.

It's the parallaxing overlaps which I think distract me most, when one icon (or more specifically, its text label) passes over another. I'd really prefer not to have to try and hide the compass altogether — though we don't seem to have a shortcut for that either?

Seconding, thirding, fourthing, whatever number we're on, agreed. PLEASE give us a toggle on/off for this. It's extra clutter and especially annoying when using NodeDetection lib with keen eye passive. But even addon-less it's too much

What's in the screenshots doesn't bother me, personally, but I imagine this will be unbearable:

Harvest Map comes with a separate library addon, is it possible you left that one active?

A lot of recent UI updates feel like this, from the "modernised" UI which stripped out any style or decorative elements to the huge bright icons informing you the game has decided you will want to use an item, it's like they're worried anything which isn't blindly obvious will be missed by players.

Options to explore were already very limited with map icons appearing as soon as you got within a few miles of their location and any quest items marked both overhead and on the compass, this seems to be continuing the trend of taking away the exploration aspects of an RPG.

Chiming in to say this really needs to be optional. I hate it. I don't hate new because it's new (I love that Bound Aegis now gives crit boost!) But this, this I do hate. It's cluttering. Please no.

These sorts of changes should only ever be optional. I too would like to remove the distances, they just clutter up the compass unnecessarily.

I don't mind the distance on the compass, help me to avoid chasing the wrong target. I would like it to be in imperial measurements rather than metric. I do not think in metric.

Whatever "m" stands for, it can't be metric. My main just stood in front of a wayshrine in about one body length's distance, and it still showed "20 m" left. And he's certainly not 20 meters tall.

Thanks. While you're at it, could you also mention the 'replay' dialogue speaker icon/button that's been stuck on just about every npc interaction, too? This should be optional, too.

But pretty much as a general thing: any of these changes really need to be optional and configurable. By all means make them default for new players and give the rest of us the info on where to locate the configuration in patch notes.

Speaking of which, special commendations and thanks for implementing:
    Energy Sustainability

You can now set how long it takes for Energy Sustainability effects to turn on while you are idle. Three options are available in the settings menu.
While it would've been even more appreciated at inception (as with the ui option requested in this thread), better late than never. Thanks.

I actually had to log off and take a break because when having multiple markers on my compass bar and sprinting the numbers can end up stacking on top of each other and as the numbers rapidly change(due to sprinting) it causes a weird flickering in my peripheral vision.

I ended up with a terrible headache, I've never experienced anything like it tbh, it went shortly after I logged off, I'm really hoping it wasn't these new numbers caused it! 😕

Apart from being distracting, the unrealistic numbers really don't help, at least for me. As an example: In an environment with cliffs or hills, if I read "150 m", I'd expect the location to be behind the obstacle, so I'd try to find a path around it - and by that I might miss it, because it's still in front of the obstacle, not behind it - because the actual distances are much shorter than the number would make you expect (if you estimate distances by objects in the environment, like your characters size). I'd rather deactivate the whole thing and really hope there will be an option for that.

I just want to add that even if you turn off compass quest and target markers, the distance markers remain on, which can't have been intended.
