Companions don't heal you when you wear Ring of the Pale Order

This is the Ring of the Pale Order description:
1 item: Restore 20% of the damage you deal as Health. This value is decreased by 4% per ally you are grouped with. You cannot be healed by anyone but yourself, your pets, or your Companions.

If you wear RotPO your companion will never heal you. I have Mirri healer, and Isobel hybrid tank/healer and they never use healing on you if you wear it.
Remove RotPO, and suddenly they start healing you.
There is only one exception - they use Crimson Font which is Undaunted synergy.

So either Ring description is wrong (companions can't heal you) or it's bugged (companions don't heal you).

The cowardly Wood Elves are best noted for their unwillingness to engage in a face-to-face attack; a Bosmer will strike at you from every side except the front. You won't cross swords with a Bosmer, but you might catch an arrow in the throat. Be wary in forests and jungles, and watch your back.

Companions used to heal you with ROPO, and ZOS actually changed the tooltip on the ring to reflect that. (Initially it didn't say so.) It would be odd for them to take that away and not document it in any patch notes or in the tooltip, but it's possible. I'm more tempted to agree it's a bug, though, since both ROPO and companions are designed to help solo/duo players with accessibility. That accessibility would be significantly reduced if ROPO made companions specced as healers useless.

For what it's worth, just before he let me die, I did see my Azandar attempt to cast heals on me, so I think the logic of the casts is working. It's that the heals themselves are blocked.

Crimson Font is not an exception to this issue. The self-heals from it are working fine with ROPO. The companion heal from it is blocked.

Azandar cast Font when I was losing health. It did not heal me on its own like it's supposed to. (That heal is called "Crimson Font" in logs.) It healed me only when I took the synergy (called "Crimson Funnel"), which also procced Undaunted Command. Both Crimson Funnel and Undaunted Command are credited to the synergy taker, so these are self-heals (not a companion heal). That's also the way it shows up in logs when another player is the one casting Font.

When I took off ROPO, Crimson Font properly healed me on its own without my taking the synergy, and it was credited to Azandar:

well by zos's logic companions are a player stand in and not a true pet, so them casting heals on you would effectively be the same as another player casting heals on you, which other players cannot when you wear the pale order ring

the ring states cannot be healed by outside sources, and companion skills are not the same as pet skills like twilight matriarch (you are still the caster in the sense of the twilight matriarch, where as the companion is the caster in their respective skills)

synergies always count as a "you cast" the synergy, regardless of the source of the synergy

Right. But the ring's item card clearly states that you can be healed by your companions (and your pets!). So either the action of the ring is bugged, or the item card text is incorrect.

Even when the ring *used* to say that you could not be healed by anyone except “yourself” — with no mention of pets or companions — your companions could still heal you. It worked this way for years:

When it was pointed out that companion heals worked despite the tooltip saying only “yourself,” ZOS chose to add pets and companions to the tooltip to clarify that the ring was working as intended. They would have done the opposite — changed the functionality and left the tooltip alone — had they not intended companion heals to work.

If they’ve changed their minds, then they need to document that and revert the tooltip.

Thank you for better explaining Crimson Font.

I noticed that companion healing is broken in IA which I only play to buy leads or furniture plans, otherwise I avoid that place.
I use Mirri until Tho'at Replicanum in the 1st Arc only, and I noticed no heals at all, and yet, she heals pretty good in group content (group dungeons and trials), and because I use RotPO in IA and never in group content, it was obvious what is possible cause.

On the flip note, Isobel is GOAT when I use RIng. Why? Because she doesn't waste heals on me when I drop under 75% for a brief second or two, she only heals herself, and, oh boy, she can tank almost every Marauder in 2nd Arc (I never play Arc 3).

But, some dev should either change description so it doesn't heal or fix it.

I really hope the next week incremental patch is going to fix this - either description or interaction - because so far nothing.
It's really sad how companion healers are useless for solo play if you wear RotPO, and they are supposedly to aid player.
Companions are non-player characters who can aid you on your adventures throughout Tamriel. Once called to your side, these stalwart allies will assist you in combat.

Yes, just standing and auto attacking is technically aiding but then, what's the point of 1-2k DPS :|?
