I'm looking for 5pcs light armor sets that is useful on tank role. This is for a magicka based builds I have been puzzling with for a while.

It has to provide some form of support to group.
Ideally front bar if possible but double bar is ok.
Off-meta is ok.

Previously I have tried:
  • Xoryn (double bar, small buff, fun orbs)
  • Almalexia (amazing healing, but no dps buff)
  • MK (mini uptime game)
  • MA (slayer not useful in pvp)
  • EC (Lucent Echo)

So far Xoryn has been the most "useful" for me, but I'm not fully happy with it.
Almalexia is was the most fun because its just a beast self heal and group heal both in pve and pvp, but organised trials is considered a waste.
Any other set suggestions or insights would be great.

it will be a very bad tank. because in the game, the maximum protection is 33k. light armor won't give you that much. also, light armor's passive skills are not suitable for a tank

The lower hp and armor is not a problem for me, I'm also primarily looking for something that I can ideally front bar on the jewels. Was just wondering if there are any good sets I may not have considered yet in the light category. I would like to see how far I can push it while still helping the group enough.

You’re not going to find a one-size-fits-all set that you can use in dungeons, trials, and PvP. Dungeons it’d be MA. Trials, Xoryn I guess. PvP, I dunno. But also yeah, there’s things you straight-up will not be able to tank with light armor.

    • CP 2000+
    • Warden Healer - Arcanist Healer - Warden Brittleden - Stamarc - Sorc Tank - Necro Tank - Templar Tank - Arcanist Tank
    • Trials: 9/12 HMs - 4/8 Tris
    • Dungeons: 32/32 HMs - 24/26 Tris

If all you're going to do is use the weapons and jewelry, why does it matter if it's from a light armor set? You're not going to get any light armor passive bonuses from those pieces anyways.

Working on a theme to go full light eventually, have been experimenting with light on jewels and body and vice versa. Looking for additional suggestions besides the sets I have already tested. Was hoping I would get some feedback on potential sets, but seems like most are concerned about tanking in light is not optimal instead.

I am just exploring combinations, a bit surprise myself of the responses, feels like the discussion did not go in the direction I would have liked. Idea with the post was that if we entertain the limitation of light armor only, which sets would you want your trial tank to bring? I guess the ones I have listed are already the top list depending on various content.

    MK/ EC
    Xoryn/MA
    Almalexia/winter
    Etc.

For now will keep Xoryn as it allows perfect uptime both pve an pvp, and use PW on jewels until a good light armor alternative comes up. Thanks for feedback!

Olorime maybe ?I know many tanks use it in 1T 3DDs dungeons to proc major courage easily, or in 1T 1H 2DDs to allow the healer to take spc off. You'd have to slot a skill specifically to activate it though

Choosing light armour for a tank is very counter-intuitive. What's the rationale here? I'm not clear on what using a light set gives you that offsets lower armour value. Is it higher max health/healing, stat recovery, ...?

My reasons are mainly just fun challenge to tank with low hp and RP my light armor mage archetype.
It teaches you all the small mechs and damage instances and how to survive.
Is like the game becomes a dark souls like :D

IMO there are some good advantages thought.
It is very fluid like you are playing a dd or healer.
You will have a very high magicka pool to maintain block through most mechanics.
Skill cost is very low and recovery very high.
    Heal and shield are huge.
You can handle debuff mechs very well, HP based mechs become easy mode.
I guess places where primarily spell resistance is needed it good too.

I think some of these advantages are very worth losing some armor, hp, or even block cost.
But is not like I am trying to promote this, I am just exploring for my own playstyle.
After all I could just swap it around and put PW on body, and Xoryn on jewels but I do the opposite because I prefer that build and playstyle.
