[Solstice Spoilers] Really Appreciate ZOS Bringing Him Back

Thought they forgot about
Darien Gautier
it was a surprise to see him alive and well, a welcome one for sure :D

Didn't expect them to kill off
Gabrielle Benele
tho, especially after they were confirmed to be a thing. I know they established the
Gift of Death to exchange one life for another
to be irreversible, but I hope they don't find some lame reset button to bring her back when Eastern Solstice comes out. Like they did with Curate Gadayn in Gold Road and Arana in the Markarth DLC. It's cheap and lame, kills all tension, especially in an M-rated game. No need to treat us with kid gloves, ZOS.

Now if you give us an option to flirt with
Darien
in Eastern Solstice, it'd be great. XD

You do know that many people don't believe in Season Passes, right ?
For my part, whatever the platform, I buy existing gaming content that I can gather actual informations on, I don't gamble on what may or may not be created in the future.

It was activated inside Meridia's realm, though, so it could easily not have functioned as the Gift of Death even though it "looked" like it at the time.

Just chiming in here. The "gift of Death" turned out tobe a corrupted meridia lantern which got cleansed when activated in meridia's own realm.

Since Darian is (unconfirmed, but my impression so far), blood-related to Meridia, unless I missed some lore in summerset, who knows what might happen once part 2 drops. I am excited to see what happens, because even if the story is a bit pedictable, ZoS has always delivered with very cinematic-feeling final boss battles, which I am very much a fan of.

She can't be dead-dead because she is still sending me antiquity messages for the codex.

Darien is a Champion of Meridia, possibly a construct of her own making, meaning he's never been a proper Mortal, Meridia put him on Tamriel for a purpose, most likely to help defeat Molag Bal and the Planemeld, but now he's continuing to serve past that, even if he thinks he has his own free will.

I'm not a big fan of named characters getting killed off like this, since ZOS refuses to establish a canon series of events with game content. The whole "Everything is happening simultaneously in the same year" thing. The events on Solstice are obviously written as a Sequel to the Base Game Questline, but even still, it's very confusing for a player to go through Solstice, see Gabrielle die, then go off to Glenumbra or the Gold Coast for the first time and suddenly she's alive again.

I was really hoping somehow that Verandis would find a way back… alas!
      Darien
strikes me as obnoxious as Jakarth. Few things are as obnoxious as people/characters utterly full of themselves — Naryu (on Telvanni Peninsula, I actually liked her in Morrowind), Darien, Jakarth, probably others I’m forgetting… IMO, only Razum-dar can pull it off and still be somehow endearing!

But I agree with part of the point of this post — quests with choices and consequences should be lasting. Undoing that, whether by bringing a character back to life or erasing character development (Eveli) without a REALLY good reason and explanation diminishes the experience.

They need to revive Gabrielle because otherwise the game has a massive plothole, she is still present in dozens of Antiquity codex entries, even some on Solstice, also you do not really wanna see people who are supposed to be dead in other zones alive and well.

Nah - I'd rather they bring Gabrielle back and put Darien back in prison.

It's also not a cheap reset button - it's explained in the quest that the thing was created by Meridia and by bringing it to her realm, it was cleansed. Activating it within her realm isn't going to function like the Gift of Death on Nirn. So not only is it feasible that Gabrielle isn't permanently dead, it should be expected.
