New to the game - not much of a crafter - seeking advice

Revelations
Hello there !!!

about to hit lvl 20 ( im so sloooowwww) and mainly ive focused on blacksmith and tailor (clothing i think its called??)

Anyway i have all this other material i could use to pick up most of the other crafts.. being as im the type of person that thinks crafting is secondary to everything else (PvP, Dungeons, etc) clearly ESO is a different game, am i gimping myself just doing the 2 professions or should i grab at least another? and if so which (im a nightblade btw)

Any and all advice is welcome :)

TY :)

I think it depends on what kind of person you are, I do them all, and some take seriously longer then others, if you in the future decide you wanna do enchant, you hurting yourself already by now only focusing on two crafts.

there are so much to gain from leveling them all, you get xp from it, you can craft your own things, you will save your gold, you might even earn gold down the road.

the thing is also, the hard work is only "once" if you build up one char with them all, you can do everything u want with your alts, even use your main to gear them up as you leveling new chars up :)

Thats a great point that when i reroll i can "twink" my other toons a bit.. ty for that

If you plan on doing every crafting profession to top level on one character, prepare to gimp yourself in battle.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

yeah there are enough in the game that you can easily max out all your professions, but you will be sacrificing a weapon/class line in order to do that.

    I have alts set up for different crafts to gear my main and each other. Each alt has a class that is viable for the craft;
Tank is blacksmith, DPS does woodworking and clothing, sorc does enchanting. This keeps me from investing skill points heavily for one crafter while keepig them combat efficient. Time? Not really. My main gathers the high end gear to decon which boosts my IP gain, also keeps my bank fom being cluttered as I port all the mats to the appropriate crafter.

While leveling up you will be gimping yourself if you try to do them all especially early on. Later once you hit Veteran ranks you will have skill points coming out the butt and don't know what to do with them. There will be plenty by the time you hit V10 to have all the professions on one character. It isn't necessary to do it that way but you can if you want. If you plan on doing enchanting I would start now and worry about the others later like provisioning can be done in a matter of minutes. Where all the other will take a long time. Alchemy can wait as well on a priority list for immediate leveling. I'd say the importance of leveling would be Enchanting, Blacksmithing, Clothier, Woodworking, Alchemy, Provisioning. The three armor/weapon professions can be any order you want in relation to how you plan on using your character.

Provisioning can no longer be done in a matter of minutes thanks to the fixes they've done to drop rates.

Blacksmith, wood and clothier are the three I'd concentrate on, I would make an alt to do provisioning and alchemy or enchanting, all three are very resource dependent, but all three are also easy to gather for on your main and do not require or depend on the character being higher level, though you will need approx 20-25 pts for each craft.

Enchanting takes foreeeeeever, so I would go ahead and begin working that up on an alt. I would actually just not do it, but it's up to you.

Provisioning used to be a why not, since it was so easy to level, now mats are an issue and the reward is pretty minimal for the pts invested, alchemy is just worthless.

Blacksmith, wood and clothier are things you can passively level, you are better off deconstructing gear than vendoring it, and the mats, upgrades you get are easy to sell.

Do keep in mind though, you are locking up pts with each, I've got 15pts just sitting at VR4, nothing really worth putting them in...so there's plenty of pts out there. I also have blacksmith, wood and clothier maxxed at 50 (don't buy the eagle eye thing, where it makes the stuff easier to spot, it's not really worth it, except maybe on clothier and then 1pt is enough) also don't but more than 2 levels of the hireling unless you are able to log in 2x a day 12 hrs apart. Lastly do not buy materials ability above what you need until you have to.

You'll be limited by skillpoints and time. If crafting is secondary to you, I'd stick to 2 professions. Probably the ones you use most...if you don't have a magic character and have no use for bows or shields, Woodworking might be a waste of time for you.

It will also consume more time which might be an issue if you are trying to focus on PvP or PvE.

On my main, I've focused on Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking, mainly due to the fact that they all benefit from learning/finding motifs. I'll only have to find each of the rare motifs once, and will unlock all of the crafting options for each of the 3 crafting occupations. He also has Provisioning at 50, but that was easy enough with just low level materials and 3 skill points.

I also leveled my Alchemy high enough to get the Keen Eye skill, so that I can easily spot the reagents in the weeds, which then get placed in my bank for my Healer/Alchemist alt. I also bank all of my runes/glyphs for my Enchanter alt, who can get all of the necessary skill points at a much lower level due to not being spread out too thin across too many professions.
