Something wrong with the 4 cats in the room right before nahviintaas on SunSpire

I used to be able to taunt the 4 without any trouble right after they spawned. But now, after a certain patch, there is quite a delay before my cursor can even target them (it takes more than 3s to actually see the profiles of the cats turn RED, and that is long enough for them to kill a healz or DPS) . The issue was there every time i ran SunSpire. would like to see a fix in the future. :|

That's to get rid of an... unintended interaction (which didn't get rid of it)

The standard strategy of "taunt them and then run into the hallway" actually annoys Finn to no end because that is not how that fight was designed. So now, they're only tauntable in melee so you need to grab them from up close
(doesn't stop you from still running intro the hallway once you did poke them though)

If this is the reason that's ridiculous. Making skills not work is not a solution to anything. If that strat is really an issue (it isn't) then block the door.

Well it seems that they are now specifying how the game is meant to be played. That is kinda funny. If my memory still works, weaving light attacks into skills was not among the intended ways of dealing damage either. Why haven't they remove that xD

This. I would imagine they'd add taunt immunity for a time period not make ranged taunts stop working if that was the goal.

I don't see why the strategy would annoy someone, but shutting the door is obviously a more reasonable and more elegant solution.

Been an issue with range taunt of the fates there for over 6 months (wss in a GS prog right up to subclassing). Melee taunt still works fine though.

i have no idea what the point is while u can still melee taunt them and use the old "stacking at the door way" strategy.

So thats why this pull is been so weird lately. So its any taunt within melee range, or basically pierce armor only?

All those poor tanks (like me) thinking they're doing something wrong this whole time.

My list of the dumbest *** ive ever heard in this game grows ever longer.

Granted, I don't know if that's the reason for the change. I only know that Finn hates that strat and that only melee taunts work now.

But still, only melee taunts work. Best idea is for the MT and OT to be standing where the far cat spawns so they can grab them right away, then poke the second one as they run toward the door. Still stacks everyone as "intended," but the tanks just need to start at the other end of the room.

The tanks i was running with changed to a melee taunt (so pierce armor) - it seemed to be that it was ranged taunts that were not working.

whos this Finn guy, the designer of SunSpire?

Unless there’s more than one Finn, I believe that is Mike Finnigan, the Dungeon Lead.

He's the lead encounter designer, so technically yes since the other devs working on the content report to him.

Although I don't know what his role was when Sunspire was designed.

Good question. It looks like Finn took over the Lead Encounter Designer title in mid-2020. (The role had existed at launch but was previously held by others.) Finn was credited as a Senior Content Designer in the launch credits and for One Tamriel; he was Lead Dungeon Designer by Morrowind’s release. Despite the fact that dungeons are not trials, that role seems to cover work on trials too, as Finn is called “[HoF’s] Dungeon Lead” in this news article:

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/26041

I imagine he must have worked on Sunspire as well, if he was that involved with HoF.

yeah, i just tried melee taunt and followed it with the old "stacking at the doorway" strategy today and it worked, awkwardly enough though.
If that is how they think it is meant to be played, I'd say elegance was totally kicked out of the window.

That is pretty funny and confusing then. If they consider poking and running an exploit, how does the change they made prevent such an exploit?
