As an option, make it private only for the duration of the event, and only for one open dungeon.

One of the interesting things that came out of the podcast was that the game originally was intended to have different layers to the same places that showed different things depending on how you had progressed. They scrapped this because it created problems with players not being able to see each other / interact. I assume the way the game has now been arranged it's no longer feasible but who knows.

By the by, I don't understand why people constantly roll out "this is an MMO" as the answer to all such questions. ESO very obviously courts both mutilplayer and single player players. An MMO is whatever the makers want it to be. And if you look at the recent forum poll, at least, shock horror (and not actually a surprise) the majority of people play solo.

The thing that this post doesn't take into account is that space is limited. If you open a private instance of a zone/delve/whatever, that means the server has to spin up that private instance and have the space for that private instance exclusively.
Tomofhyrule is right. This is a server resource issue. I would love private instances, but it's not going to happen, nor should it, because the impact on the servers would be too high. This is why we get kicked out of dungeons and trials as soon as the group disbands as well.

I said no as server resources would be used up creating instances of Delves.

After a while, you may come to appreciate that someone else has taken out the Trash. Of course, if you need the Delve Boss for a quest, it will spawn as you approach, most of the time anyway.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I feel that there are better ways to take care of the problems of having the bosses be melted and/or already dead when you get there.

Such as shortening the timer between the boss spawns, and so on.

This is a MMO. If the sheer existence of other players ruin your game experience or your immersion, it's a YOU problem, because YOU chose to pick that game, well knowing that other players exist in these type of games.

No unless these solo instances are changed to only drop account bound un-deconstructable gear and nothing else.

This is the solution for content congestion, and part of the solution for trivial overland difficulty.

When there is no adversity present, there is no game to play. When too many people are engaging with the same content, there isn't enough game to go around and players get left out, or are otherwise made to wait for the game to refresh. This is a huge problem whenever new content is released; no matter how short the respawn times are, there are always too many other players face rolling the adversity, leaving nothing for the rest of us to engage with.

If you're just in it for rewards and numbers, this is a non issue. It might even help you along. But for players who expressly want to engage with the full scope of the game as it's designed, it's extremely frustrating.

Not to mention times when a golden pursuit or event is up targeting delve bosses, resulting in a swarm of players camping on a boss spawn, waiting to devour it like a school of piranhas. Bad time for everyone involved.

Saying it's an MMO and to just deal with it is a non-argument; lobbying not to solve a problem is never constructive to the discourse. I'd even say it's purely contrarian.

Fair criticisms of this proposal include problems around limitless farming of both XP, leads, and gear. To address that, we could limit instance resets on a timer (12 hr, 24 hr) and disable respawns on solo instanced interiors. First time in is solo instanced (if you want it to be), every time after for the next cycle is public. If you wanna play without bumping elbows you get one sweep to yourself, if you wanna farm you've gotta do it with everyone else.

Combined with personal difficulty settings on solo-instanced combat interiors (including quest and story content; not just delves), this would resolve all of the grievance around trivial overland and story content difficulty, while also resolving all of the pain points around content congestion.

All without splitting or diluting the player base. Everyone would be engaging with the content at the ideal level and with just the right amount of support.

Waiting in a video game is not playing. It's not a fun or engaging element of gameplay, and it's not something we should be obligated to tolerate due to the genre.

Haven't they said relatively recently they are reworking the original main quest in part due to the performance impact of having so many solo instances running have on the servers.

    Already implemented: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/679227/xbox-patch-notes-v1-40-0-0-update-46
To mitigate some of the server impact created by the solo instances used in the Harborage for the base game Main Quest, we have retooled all Harborage spaces to no longer be solo instances. Each “layer” of the new world is still your own and you will not see any other players in your space.

Not sure if that could be extended to delves - The Harborage itself is pretty small. Some of the other main quest locations are a lot larger, but I don't think those were included in this layering effort?

It would be nice if there was a way to switch instances manually if somebody's in the area you want to farm. It would also be nice if they added more areas that are good for AOE farming like vanilla zones with new DLCs. Sort of give more decent options to spread the population out more.

Hopefully they they give infinite archive more attention and maybe some events to encourage currency gains since that is a solo instance or partnered.

Yes it would be nice, but also impractical. That would make the servers even more laggy because of having to create so many separate encounters.

For endeavors, at least, I think the solution is changing how the endeavors work. Instead of "A PD boss in Auridon," they should change it to "A PD dungeon boss in the Aldmeri Dominion," or better, "Any PD boss," to spread out the crowd. Same for delves. Instead of a Malabar Tor delve, make it an Aldmeri Dominion or all of Tamriel delve. Then people looking to avoid the crowd could find an old DLC to kill their PD/delve boss, and have a much less crowded experience.

Isn't there a player cap in Craglorn delves? They're "group delves," ON-mapicon-GroupDelve.png as opposed to just delves. I've definitely not been able to enter at times.

Maybe they could make instanced delves like that, but not bar the 13th player from entering, just spin up the next instance.
So delves would be limited to 12 players, everyone could get the loot, and on crowded days there would just be multiple instances. Most days, most delves rarely have more than 1 - 2 players in them.

People grouped would be an issue, I guess if a 4 person group hit a delve with 9 occupants, they'd get a new instance?

Yes please because the MMO part of ESO has always been incredibly redundant and forced. Megaservers and sharding smothered the concept in it’s cradle.
