That always reverts to "Hot". It does not stay on "New". When did this even become a thing? It's annoying.

The forums are completely broken now. You can only view things by "Hot" and not by "New". If you change it to "New" it doesn't do anything, it still shows you everything in the useless "Hot" order. You can reload the page, but it doesn't make any difference, it still won't sort things by "New" even though it will show that that's what you've selected. If you navigate away to a post or a different forum category and come back it forgets your selection and defaults back to "Hot" again.
@ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno why was this change made without any testing to see if it actually worked? I guess I probably won't ever find out, because I can't stand a feed that's sorted by "Hot" and there's no way to make it sort correctly again, so I'm probably just going to abandon the forums now. I never use any sites that don't allow you to sort your feed chronologically.

To be clear, you want to sort by most recently made threads, rather than by most recent post?
Hot is "most recent post" i.e. the last thread anyone posted in.
New is the most recently made threads, i.e. sorted by when the first post in a thread was made.
Top is some sort of popularity and is going to be necro thread bait if people start using those filters.

I see both, but they're in entirely different places:



'Recent' is in the bar at the top of the forum, 'Sort hot' is next to the new discussion button because it's a filter for a specific forum section, not everything jumbled together.

You won't see the sort option if you use 'recent' because there's no useful way to sort or filter that list (you can narrow it down to ones you're following, but that's all). That's why I (and I think a lot of people) don't like it. There's a lot of things which get posted on the forum which are of no interest to me, like people asking for help with technical problems, debates about the precise details of combat mechanics, and a lot of things which need the context of which section they're in, like people's roleplay stories. By using the categories I can choose what I see, rather than everything being thrown in together.
