Can I gripe about the new Costume? Design and Pricing

First off. I absolutely love it. NEARLY bought crowns just to have it. This is exactly what I want out of an outfit.

But lets get to the nearly part. Why that pauldron? Why is it protruding off the arm so much? And how is it even attached to the body? There's no straps, no physical part of the costume touches it. It's just two metal plates floating on bare arm. It makes no sense and it's a little gaudy.

And then the price. I'm looking at this strictly from an Endeavor stand point. This one single costume is 8,000 Endeavors. That's real hefty just on it's own, so then why is the Dragonguard Style Book, an ENTIRE Motif complete with Light, Medium, Heavy, and Weapons, only 3,000 plus change Endeavors? A single Costume is 2.5x the cost of an entire Motif?

The main personal issue of mine and major turn off is it's quite clearly designed to be separate pieces but glued together to sell as a costume (yet again).

The costume looks nice at first sight. I agree with colossalvoids that it looks like an outfit style glued together. The pauldron makes visuall not much sense without anything to keep it in place. Bit ridiculous for 8.000 seals.

I'd guess that they priced the motif book lower as the motif can be farmed ingame. Easily bought for gold too.
Since the costume can only be achieved through gambling, they can take the freedom of pricing it as high as they desire without the playerbase pointing at its ingame achievable counterpart and demanding a lower price by reason.

Agreed on the pauldrons. This isn't the first costume to be ruined by gaudy pauldrons that you cannot hide (because it's a costume).
But I also hate those pants.

I like the pauldron, but valid concerns about the lack of attachment for it lol. Then again, that does make it more of a bare-chest/bare-shoulder look that people often request.

I wish they made these costumes Legendary, not Apex. Crown Crates and Crowns haven't gotten more expensive in my country while inflation happened everywhere else, but the rarity of rewards has been inflated, for sure.

(The quality is still higher than the earliest Crates, for sure.)

I'll keep it short: PAULDRON. The only reason I haven't spent my gems on this costume yet (because unfortunately it didn't drop from the 50 boxes I bought.

By the way, thanks for showing the costume without the helmet. I was afraid that there might be a problem like with the magician's costume.

Remember the something something jester one, had some pretty amazing pieces to play with but got zos'ed hard. Not helping when the motifs are so extremely generic nowadays.

I actually like the pauldron, though it'd be nice if Hide Shoulders would hide that for you and others who don't like it.

But yeah I also love / hate this costume.

And yeah the price is awful. I only got it on EU because I had extra Seals and wanted to try it out to see if I'd like it for my NA main. If it was even the 100 / 3600 tier I might've got it on multiple accounts already. But 400 / 8000... Eww.

Pauldrons & hip armour are the biggest offenders, the "tabard" while also very often added, is the lesser evil. That being said:

Hide Shoulders needs to be an option for Costumes, just like Hide Hat/Helmet;
Pauldron on this outfit style needs to have some leather/linen/silken straps attaching it to the body (or to the armour) so that it's plausibly held in place;
Colour options are a bit weird, I suggest to move the colour channel of pants to be paired with the mask's "hair", rather than what's currently - pant colour (cloth) & mask (metal) are the same channel.

While at it, please also fix the "gap" between Telvanni Master Wizard hip armour, as it's floating off the cloth, rather than being attached (it's just a simple fix in Blender or such).

To me, it looks quite strange as a costume; I would assume that it was various motifs/styles that the player had combined. The pants are unique but I would not expect to be paired with the large crotch flap and as others have pointed out, the pauldron looks entirely out of place. Costumes are best for pieces that wouldn’t make sense broken up into style pieces.
