Tbh there's zero point in tanking pugs if dds in your group deal less damage (or die too much) than you would on your solo build. The only reason to queue as a tank is to clear the dungeon as fast as possible.

Although that is only the case for real tanking, when faking you kinda don't care

i left a group yesterday because of low DPS and several other stuff. We was in the dungon where you can get magma (forgot the engl. name). DDs pulled all my adds and die ok shxt happens to the first boss. I spot the adds the boss, the group spam LA on boss and adds, dont go out of aoes, i thought that will be....btw was on norm.

Second boss was where i left the group. I spotted Atros and boss but again no Damage on boss or atros. At the this point (maybe to late) i knew we will not completed this.

Agree. But I'm tank main player, so when I'm in my tank character, I always feel huge responsibility.
But in random team, sometimes too much casual player ruin dungeon mission.
(They're doing fake tank even in Vet dungeon....

)

So, I want to know fair boarder line to abandon mission as tank.

As a tank main player, I always do effort to save lowbie's chance to get set gear.
But 50% PUGver don't know basic rule of role combat at all. (non vet~CP2500)
(Steal tank's taunt, can't do effective damage deal, die within 3 sec, no healing....
DPS keep standing in the AOE)

At least, please do fundamental preparation for the dangerous mission.
(basic role build, basic role gear, food, mundus, and please don't be headless panicked chicken )

2. Non-tank pulling bosses instead of waiting for the tank to pull the boss.

By the way....still stupid player keep doing fake tank in the random group.
(sigh...use armory)

If it is in DLC dungeon, even normal mode, you should stop meaningless fake tanking.
Only 100K elite DPS can do burning work.

If you can't do such a pro damage work, then you're just useless glass player.
It doesn't work in the newer DLC dungeon. Don't waste your time. Call pro tank friend or guild member.

I’d like to refine the question. Because after years of doing this I find that a lot of things can play into it from real life to blood sugar level.

What circumstances are there such that me bailing is not the toxic problem but rather my groups behavior is the toxic problem.

1. Extremely deficient dps. I’m not talking below my preference dps. I mean the dungeon will literally take an hour or more kinda dps. By virtue of group finder I’m accepting the chance for below par. But at a certain point it gets to “I don’t owe you two hours of my life.” At this point the toxicity factor is individuals coming into vet dungeons with 10k dps, not my leaving. If I blow warhorn twice on opening trash pack, the problem in the group finder community isn’t me leaving, it’s something else.

2. If it becomes clear that the group is flat incapable of completing the dungeon for whatever reason. And I mean very clear. I wouldn’t say they are being toxic here. But I sometimes won’t wait for them to figure out what I already know: we ain’t winning here. To balance this comment however, I will quite often, even usually, persist with a terrible group because I love to see what I’m capable of. Tanking for a bad group is like a whole new difficulty setting.

3. Extreme rudeness. I’m not sticking around for people to treat each other less than human.

What these three have in common is that in each situation, if the group finder is a bad place, it’s not because I left. It is because of the situations I’m leaving. And I can sleep knowing I’m a positive on the ESO dungeon community rather than a reason somebody would avoid it.

The problem is not in the tank. The first option describes unprepared players. In the vetSH this is a failure, you can leave and not waste your nerves

If the group dies because the DDs won't do the mechanics, I'm out. There is a difference between learning the mechs and simply refusing to do them. I will stick it out for the former group, but not the latter.

"Solo normal as a tank" I don't understand. I can tank scrivener normal on a dps with a chain though, how's that?

To answer the question, Whenever you get bored. I've pulleded some truly terrible dps through vets, as long as I know they're at least trying.

Since the post speaks of a real tank : Low DPS (but really, very very low), of course .. if the DPS is too low, then it becomes a chore.
And I say this as a DPS myself.

DPS of the world : the questing zones are trivially easy, and you might not be as powerfull as you think you are. Get your info to learn if you are up to a vet dungeon or not

leave at the start if you are going to leave, otherwise also decide by asking what happened to last tank if pulled into dungeons midway through, it does not take take a genius nowadays to make educated guesses that do not revolve around how much dps the group has (small example, had the healer already started supporting the dps from the start or do the dd's already know its going to be much simpler and faster from the start to let the tank do his/her thing ahead of group, will you need limitless pots to get hrough, can you habdle the fact as tank you too are likely going to die alot too before getting a clear in the specific group without raging, did you set the time aside for the circumstances before you entered the queue, were you met with a wall of silence at the first explanation leading to nothing changing ,ect ect) , first group of enemies at most, theres lots of reasons a tank should leave sooner rather than later without pressure to themselves or the group, will the next tank want to pick up where you left off if it was a genuinely nice group and you stayed longer? in scriv did the dd leave first after refusing to do mechs in show of failed dps stength ? too many things to take into account now, stale dungeon. one important thing though, do you already know that the dungeon is very doable with the rest of the group playing properly with very low cp and experience in vet and simply know at which point you are wasting your own time doing a dungeon for the 1000th time for not one apparent gain except its your random and there the daily exp at the end, and was your finginger already half way over to the leave group button on the loading screen before checking out your squad

There is never a line to quit a normal dungeon.
You can enter the first dungeons at level 10. To expect the dds to have super high dps at this level is just ignorant and elitist.

If we can't progress due to extremely low dps, then I just switch to dd and finish it.
No point in letting newbies hang or leave behind.

On vet it's of course different. But the topic is about normal and everyone thinking, they can leave just because they got some low levels in their group, should think about their first dungeon as a newbie.
I doubt you were super OP there.

ok but i saw the question of op wanting to skip to the question with ability to do those things in order to answer the question about vet or normal, in other words answer this question about real tanking in any mode if you can do such a thing, not that i would waste time doing it. just wanted to clear some things up for op as i keep in mind what real taking acually really means as im not even sure on normal it would be possible in a real tank build solo, and if it was doable solo in a tank build would have been a complete waste of time, i suppose the question is a little distorted aswell as the line between solo or with dps in normal and no healer, meaning solo and no companion healer. and the only reason to solo scriv solo is because you dont like the finder groups or you just want to test your own muscle

OP. can you clear this question up a bit please ? with or without dps and/or just in the normal instance later too, but still i remain to say depends, was your finger already on you pulled the dungeon as a random or did you queue for it ? if its random then just ask was your finger already half way over to the leave group button in an actual group ? either way in group content you really want a healer around and being a tank with no dps to try and need to prove it can only help, however if you pull a short straw and end up in a group of 3 dd want-to-be's that 2 belong in vet then just leave anytime as not only can this worsen the experience but also can make you a worse tank later on. and in all fairness to them is a big reaon alont of players skipped normal and went straight to vet

I am almost fully in agreement, then I remembered the last boss on Exiled Redoubt. Even on normal, a bad crew of DPS makes that boss a miserable experience. I'm sure there are others, but that is the one that currently sticks out.

I usually don't refuse low dps if they really new or try better
but I give up low Dps player who is refuse do mechanic and will group wipe(main mechanic kill me,because I alway have resurrecting ult in my necro tank front bar

As someone who can pretty much solo every normal dungeon without forced group mechanics, if I am tanking and the group can't clear a boss on normal, I am probably bouncing.

I had a banished cells run a few years ago that I was tanking on normal and I think I was doing more damage than the group. Ended up leaving 20 mins in at the second boss because it was absurd.
