After 9 Years, Maybe its Time to Fix Fear

As someone who regularly uses Mass Hysteria on a NB build, I can tell you that its broken. Players basically get stuck and can not break free while you chop them down. If a player somehow manages to survive the first fearing, you can just hit them with another one without worrying about CC immunity because it doesn't seem to apply to fear. Same thing happens with multiple werewolf roars.

The chronic lag inherent in a battle of over 20 players makes it even more effective. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, its akin to killing a player who is AFK. This isn't a new problem, so can this happen before this glitch reaches its own 10 year anniversary?

    ...just one of many reasons so many chose to PvP on NB. ...so many aspects of NB are fundamentally unfair in a PvP environment.

    I can confirm that cc immunity does apply to fear… in PvE. So, I don’t think its the skill itself as much as something’s going on with applying cc immunity to players.

    Exactly. I've seen this from both ends, the inflictor and in the victim. The few times I have been stuck in a "fear lock" when playing as a DK in PVP, it takes multiple attempts to break free, depleting your stamina, and if I am successful, I get hit immediately by another fear. Again, its not every single time but enough that its not an uncommon occurrence.

    Yet another issue related to Rush of Agony. As soon as you are hit with RoA you get hit with fear and can’t break free. Then the 4-10 Ulti dump.
    I can’t recall whether cc immunity prevents fear, but of course one of the main issues with RoA is no cc immunity.

    I mention this because RoA pull/dumps are the only time that the issue with breaking out of fear really affects me

    3 GOs, a Warlord, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

    Agree with most of this.

    You sort of imply that roa is not a problem. I disagree and so does zos. Roa and any aoe pull sets is bad for pvp.

    People will still complain about ball groups, but this set needs to be yeeted from nirn or, at least made pve only.

    Stuns have a similar issue to gap closers. Why are there so many different underlying mechanics? Stuns are a core game system that absolutely needs to work consistently. There only needs to be one "stun" mechanic, but instead it's like they designed a completely different system to fit each roleplay theme, leaving a mechanical mess.

    Totally agree. Then you get into the mess of "unblockable stuns" like Streak, or "unblockable CC's" like Shattering Rocks, or, as with ROA, "will not apply CC immunity."

    I think we all agree that a lot of these problems would fix themselves if the servers were more reliable and the lag minimized. But since we all know that will never happen, this would be a viable second option. There should never be an issue like this with Fear that has existed this long. Then again, I still find myself stuck in combat in the middle of open fields...

    Agreed.

    RoA is tremendously problematic and while it's most irritating when used by BallGroups to easy-mode their herding of players, it's broken even when used by a single Bomber. Just because Bombers irritate me less doesn't make the CC immunity and weird delay issues of RoA any less true.

    The Set either needs a MASSIVELY longer cooldown or needs to be PvE only, since ZOS is clearly unwilling or able to fix it.

    Look, yes Ball Groups are the real problem, but acting like a set that breaks the rules of combat by design is okay is being disingenuous at best and is an argument made in bad faith at worst.

    Rush is a problem. It should not bypass CC rules, full stop.
