if you compare to WoW for example they have separate days for their different servers (this is why you get the complaint of players wanting global release for things like trials/raids there). ESO is updated globally similar to FF14 I believe?
There are benefits to both systems. For example ESO did used to have split region patching but I think this was changed because of console - I'm guessing console is the main reason why

When ESO launched the EU and NA servers had their own versions of the game and the servers were managed separately in terms of downtime. They put them on the same schedule when they combined the versions so that you only had to install the game once in order to play on both servers. It was a huge improvement, and as for the maintenance times there isn't a schedule that will ever appeal to everyone.

So stop complaining and be happy the devs do something for the game you like and try to keep it as secure and with as less bugs as possible.
Thank you.

Server went offline at 6pm my time. I didn't get to play at all last night.

Name some major AAA games that give credit for announced downtime? I know some games will give credit for unannounced downtime, or if the downtime covers several days. But considering ESO maintenance is part of a scheduled in advance routine, and is covered under the TOS, they are under no obligation to credit anything.
Now WOW has lots of servers, hundreds of the ESO only have 6 datasenters, instead servers are split on zones overland and instanced stuff. I'm sure the ESO system is much harder to take up and down.Quoted post has been removed
