Special Collectibles limit holds me back from buying houseguests

I know that we can increase the limit from 5 to 10 with ESO Plus, but personally, it doesn't make sense to pay for a monthly subscription solely to increase the collectible limit, as the limit is all that I am interested in within the subscription. However, I would actually pay for the houseguests if we weren't constrained by the limit of 5. I can't do that while there is no space.

As far as I remember, there was a mention that making the collectibles limitless would cause performance issues, so it's understandable to have a limit. But keeping the limit behind a purchase I am not willing to make is holding me back from a purchase that I want to make.

If my memory isn't mistaken, the limit for notable homes is 10 with the subscription. I hardly bother with houseguests these days, except those I like a lot, because of the low limit. I need to place the service NPCs and I like to have a few pets around, so that leaves little room for them. I occasionally use target dummies as "houseguests" to alleviate the problem. The concern over performance is understandable, but is it really going to cause that much trouble to increase the limit a bit?
