I still don't get why players who have [rage]-quit still haunt the forums with negativity. To me if I quit for reasons that made me quit I would never darken their doors forevermore.

I've had multiple long breaks from this game due to burnout, and the fact we're getting less (quality) content than before and less often too, I might just have an extended break again if today's PTS patch notes about balance aren't serviceable. Last year I replayed all the old story DLCs up to Summerset, and everything else is still in rather fresh memory so I don't have a reason to stay for replaying now, but maybe much later... The only thing I've been doing in the game as of late has been nDLC gear farms with a friend and a lil bit of IA. I'm not buying the season pass so I think a break will do good in any case.

The reason is typically because they want to change things. Which is why people usually complain on forums in general. Not so much because they think the game is useless, but because they want it to change for the better (from their perspective) so they can return.

Myself I've always played this game on and off but i continue to lurk on the forums to see whats going on even when i don't actively play.

I mean, I have no intention of leaving the game right now, but who knows, maybe some day if they decided not to add any new content anymore and I've played the old content so often it begins to bore me... Then I'd probably also leave the forum, personally. I would keep my eyes open every now and then whether they plan to add anything new to the game again, but I'd probably only check the news on the main site, not the forums.

I still do believe it's legit to use the forums when taking a break or having left the game, though. Of course I do not think that people who only come here to spread negativity out of spite make a useful contribution, but there are aspects where posts could be useful nonetheless: Who's familiar with lore can still participate in lore discussions. People can also voice what they'd like to see in the game, because they consider returning under certain circumstances.

I know one common worry is that users who haven't played for a longer time could give useless advice or make bad suggestions because they're not even familiar with the current state of the game anymore. But let's be honest: People can give very badly thought out advice or make rather strange suggestions even while actively playing the game. In the end we always have to check posts whether they're plausible, no matter if that person who wrote it was last logged in 2 years or 2 hours ago.

    Kind of an obvious poll..

There's always going to be people that don't play the game any longer than check in on it for positive or negative reasons, but a vast majority of forums users will be current players.

It would be strange being here on the forums of a game you don't play.

You would be surprised how many people post but do not play anymore for whatever reason.

Exactly. I keep tabs. I sometimes hop in now-and-then. Mostly, I find this game an interesting case-study so I like to see what's happening even when I'm gone for long stretches. At this time, I don't even have it installed.

This is how I am really.

If I decide to quit the game, I will often just drop it. I don't want to be reminded, I don't want to keep checking back in.

Sometimes I will go on 'hiatus' from a game where I will do dailies and check forums for news about the game, but I don't consider that 'quitting'.

In my case it's mostly that I have a lot of interests. Literally dozens. Sometimes I think I could live for 500 years, I still won't get everything done. So, if I decide to stop a hobby or take a longer break from it (which I sometimes do deliberately to free time for another interest), I'd rather concentrate on other things I'm really interested in in the newly won freetime, instead of wasting it.

I don’t think it’s that weird. I play the game for about one week every patch to get a feel for the current state and to check out the balance and new additions etc.

So I wouldn’t quite say I play ESO since it’s so infrequent at this point. I still come here to leave feedback and suggestions based on my experience though.

I also still have a bunch of time invested from when I actually liked the game. As of now though, I’m really not happy with things. I want things to change and I like to post ideas here, but I’m not an active player anymore by any means.

What a weird poll.... and one I sadly have to answer truthfully on. Not anymore, no.

Steam says I got 8,575.2 hours, but I know I got a hundred more hours or so from when I owned it off-steam, and I just cannot really bring myself to come back. I do seem to occasionally pop in here every now and again to see how things are going. Guess a part of me still cares about the game. <.<

I stopped playing the game when patch 43 was announced. I'm a PvE stam warden main which has received continual nerfs since patch 35.
I just had to draw the line with Arctic Blast being the nerf that broke this camel's back. I decided I wouldn't play the game again until ZOS did something for the stamwarden.
So I kept on the forums and hoped.
I'll be back in June for subclassing. Hopefully my dps will be high enough that I can get a spot in trials chasing hardmode achievements.

For me, it is usually because I am either disgusted by the game (they changed something I really loved and don't want to be reminded) or I had to quit due to some other reason (such as no longer being able to play the game because it won't work on my computer) and I don't want to be reminded of the fun I had.

I usually try not to completely stop playing a game if I get another interest, because I often then forget about the game and have a hard time getting back into when I finally remember about it. For single player games, this often means I start new playthroughs, but online games I can't do that, so it can be harder for me to 'get back into' the game, because I have to remember where I was at, why do I have all these seemingly random things, and what on earth was I going to do?

Yes, but only daily endeavor. Just do easy mission only and log out.

I lost most of passion to play ESO recently, because people lost
interest of exploring and questing, but keep doing speed farming.
I'm tired of damage competition only retro game, want to play some other
    more contemporary title.

PVP? I bought BattleField 5 by the steam shop bargain sale. So I don't need fake PVP game.

I cancel subscription today. I spend so much money and time from 10 years ago.

I can't understand this my feeling honestly....... :/
But, very strange psychological change happen in my mind suddenly.

Recently, I was doing volunteer body-guard tank job for grouping tool farming mission.
This is not my first time doing those type activity though.

When I was watching my team mate who want specific set gear,
my passion suddenly totally cold out. People are doing super speed run
for some weapon or jewelry. Looks like my team mate happy. Because
get some nice gear for him(or her?)

Well......maybe I helped so many people though. But I lost something fresh air
    which I felt in 2014.

Suddenly all passion disappear from my mind. And I notice much of unfinished game title
which I bought it before piled up at my steam shelf.

It's a time to stop playing ESO, and move to other world for me.

Yeah, as a tank keeping up with speedrunners or dealing with fake roles is damn annoying(remove the heavy armor negatives dangit) and can easily remove your motivation to play! It has done so for me many times, and ZOS needs to fix this before it tanks the entire game.

That said, do not let these types of people remove your enjoyment from the game. The game is still fun, and every once in a while(yeah that few) there will be groups that play dungeons the way they are meant to be played. Which makes it a joy.

PS: Helped someone earlier this week who wasn't able to get the monster mask from vSCP in chat for days(had been in queue for many hours as well), and tanked that dungeon for him.
PPS: I do not consider speedrunners/fake role players gamers, they are not there to play the game, they are only there for the shiny at the end. While I'm here for the entire journey/total experience.

I don't play ESO at the moment, I want to tho and I log into the game almost everyday just to see more changes coming that will force me to grind some more just to adapt to the new and boring meta, then I log off.
