Supporting ESO Financially

I want to preface this post by saying that I understand that the future of ESO is entirely dependent upon it's ability to earn money to keep the lights on as well as continue to add new content. Those players that continue with active ESO+ subscription are part of that future. So are those players the regularly buy crowns so that they and other players can have goodies from the Store.

One of those goodies is the point of this post: Dyes. Over the last year there have been quite a few Dyes that I wanted to get since the preview of them looked really good on my main character. I do not wear customized gear but instead run with one of the costumes that I bought from the Store when I first started playing ESO 18 months ago. One of the leveling quests awarded me a Dye set that I applied and wore for a while. It wasn't a very good color combination and the first chance I had to replace it I did.

But then I learned that that Dye set was a one time only use and could not be used again. Chatting with other players in zone chat it was confirmed that ALL Dye sets are one time only use - it says so in the tooltip - and is permanently lost when another Dye set is used. This makes no sense to me.

Since Dye sets are purchased with Crowns which themselves are purchased with real world money why are they a one time use only item and are lost forever after that? I understand that ESO needs to make money but, for me, this is a deal breaker. Why on Earth should I spend my Crowns on something that I do not get to keep on my character forever like I do with every other cosmetic item in the Store? I would glad snap up Dye sets if they were permanent and not temporary. There is a Dye set in the Store right now that I would love to pick up but won't since once I use it it will be gone forever after that.

To whoever at ESO is in charge of this item, PLEASE, change how Dye sets work. Make them a permanent addition to our characters to be used repeatedly forever and ever. And if you can make it so we can rearrange the colors however we want instead like the "one size fits all" approach they have now. Even if we have to pay 100 gold each time it will still be better than it is now. AND you will get my money, too, unlike now where you're not getting any. Unless, of course, my money isn't good enough for you. Then that's a different discussion.

PLEASE change how Dye sets work. Thank you.

Most of the dyes can be obtained in game from various activities. If you post which one, we might be able to tell you how to earn them.

Having said that, there are some colors that are unavailable outside of dye stamps. That technically means they are also unavailable to dye anything but costumes, since you can’t apply them to armor or weapons in the outfit system. These colors should absolutely be made available as actual collectable dyes. Considering they’re already purchase-only, putting them in the Crown store would be reasonable, but then you could use them on more than just one single character’s one single costume.

My only interest in the Dye sets is to change the color scheme of the costume that my main character wears from time to time. Other players may have more interest(s) than that which is fine with me. The one that I want that is in the Store right now goes away tomorrow morning. I really want it but I'm not spending anything for it as long as it is a single use item.

As a work around, if there is a way to dye costumes at an Outfit Station I would love to know how. I could then work to unlock the colors I want and just spend gold to dye my main character's costume whenever I like.

But, Ideally, it would best if we could just permanently unlock the colors offered in the Dye sets and have access to them at all times.

Please let me know if and how to dye costumes at an Outfit Station if that is a thing.

It's a thing, but it's only for subscribers. If you are a subscriber, it is in the upper right-hand corner when you are at the outfit station.

You can dye costumes at the outfit station with ESO+.

That way you can use any combination of obtained dyes from quests, achievements etc.

Outstanding! I did not know this. I guess this could be an acceptable compromise. Maybe. I would have to complete more content than I already have to get more colors. I will look at the colors offered at an Outfit Station and see what I need. The one Dye set currently on the Store that disappears in about 12 hours I don't remember seeing those colors at an Outfit Station. I will look again.

    Thank you for the tip!

EDIT: I just checked an Outfit Station and none of the colors in that current Dye set are shown at the Station. Which is disappointing. Oh well. I will have to remember that costume dying is a thing the next time I spring for Plus.

Thank you again for the tip!

Note that costumes you dye stay that way if your sub ends.
