Easy idea for more immersive / harder overland content

When I first entered Zenithars Abbey in Blackwood (Public Dungeon) I was blown away, exploring it in first person was so immersive and moody, I felt back in a single player Elder Scrolls game...right until the point when a sorcerer in a neon yellow outfit lightning streaked in top speed past me destroying everything in his path... immersion ruined...

I think there would be an easy way to not only improve the experience on the excellently designed delves and public dungeons in the game but also combine it with the long requested harder overland content - so why not:

Every time you want to enter a delve or public dungeon you get the option to either enter the normal public environment, or to enter alone or with your current group a private instanced version of said delve / public dungeon which then automatically increases the difficulty of the monsters to non vet group dungeon level?

This would fix 3 issues currently in the game

a) more immersive content you can experience at your own leisure
b) harder overland content at your discretion
c) if you need to farm specific bosses you dont have to compete with other players

Thoughts?

Considering this is an MMO (if in name only) I wouldn't expect to see any of that happen. Though they are supposedly considering optional harder overland. I'll believe it when I see it.... and I'm not expecting to see optional.

Not that it matters any more to me anyway.

The most straightforward way to implement content of various difficulties would be to group those players together into instances that match their selection. The logistics will be more complicated than what we have now, where the server can just arbitrarily take new players moving into the zone and place them in a newly created instance if it gets too crowded. The code would have to constantly search for new players and check their difficulty setting with more than one difficulty enabled, then create a new instance. So the number of overland instances per zone will likely increase. There would likely be some instances that are very sparsely populated in either the normal or harder versions.

If that behavior is extended to all the delves and public dungeons, the number of instances there also increases. While this would greatly improve the gameplay experience for many players, we have no idea how much more work the code and servers have to do to implement this. There are a lot of delves and public dungeons now. If a difficulty setting had been put into the code when it was first written it would be easier, but now 11 years later it will be challenging to add that capability.

I would love the option - at the delve entrance - to select normal instance or private instance. Soloing a delve is fun. Randoms racing through it sucks the fun right out. Then you get to the boss and hope to get at least a light attack in before several other players kill it.

Best option I have seen is to have a Slider in options like:

Damage revived increased by X %
    Health/Magicka decreased by X %
    Stamina/Magicka used increased by X %

Area of Effects that randomly appear when you are in battle, only affecting you, by X % frequency.
Summons that appear, when in battle, only visible to you, by X % frequency.

Maybe even skills that dont fire... just a few ideas/

They said they are considering an opt-in type of change for overland. So player choice

just blows my mind how people keep trying to strip away the MMO part of this game...so many fantastic single player RPG's out there including a complete redo of Oblivion that more than satisfies any singleplayer RPG reqs. This game needs MORE social MMO elements and features - not less.

Depends what you mean with mmo; In principle I like having more options depending on the day and would consider it more mmo to be able to enter a public dungeon or delve with my own group or friends rather than having my experience diminished by some random other player who has no interest in grouping or immersive gameplay; so I would 100% second this:

I just don't understand why anyone would want to do all they can to make other people stop playing.

First, this is Not a Survival game. It's primarily an RPG. The goal is Not to just barely survive just walking around. The goal Accept Quest, go to Quest location, complete Quest, return for reward. Everything around you, wherever you go is FLAVOR. Different terrain, Different environment, Different local creatures is what creates the immersion. It is Not the purpose of the game for the character to obtain a Quest and Die long before they reach the Location.

Second, there are a Lot of players that enjoy playing this game solo. Changing the game so that solo characters die regularly just walking around will pretty much guarantee the decline of the game.

There are plenty of ways for any player to make the game " more challenging " for themselves IF they really want to.

I would really be interested in knowing what the CPs and Gear of the characters are, who want to make things Harder on Everyone else is.

And what do I get in return?
Better loot? In what form, currently I have complete 100% all motifs pages, my weekly net income from writs is 2-2,5mil gold, I am not a housing enjoyer so I have practically no place to spend gold so better loot in theese forms (motifs, gold etc) is zero motivation for me.
    So what next?
More xp? Maybe, but it would have to be more profitable(xp wise) than the current BRP/dolmens xp gain, so...
Or why else would I choose this harder mode? If I want a harder mode I go vet dungeons/trials etc but choose a harder delve or PD to which are just for skyshard/quest or map completion anyway, why would I do that if the thing(delve, PD) in question just needs a quick run through whether for skyshard or to kill a boss?
(I speak for myself and this is my take on the "harder" version of overland/delve/PD)
