I just want to confirm if Brassy Assassin peronality price is not an error

So today new golden pursuit started and also brassy assassin returned to crown store after long time. Some errors accured with golden pursuit that players stated in other thread and I remember that in the past there ware errors with crown store items prices (for example apex rewards from sunken trove crates).

So I would like to ask: 3500 crowns for brassy assasin peronality when previously it costed 750 crowns is not an error? can anyone from zos confirm or look into that?

    Holy Predatory, Batman!

DEAR DEVS: The Brassy Assassin Personality should cost 1,200 Crowns without an ESO+ discount, and around 750 Crowns with an active ESO+ subscription discount.

SOURCE: The literal 8 years you have been selling this cosmetic. The Brassy Assassin personality was first available in the Crown Store for 1,200 Crowns from July 6th to July 10th, 2017 and discounted for Plus members to 750 Crowns from March 11th to March 14th, 2019. It returned in 2021 with a Plus discount, and once again in January 2023. Please fix this.

I have to believe this is an error, because if the team has decided to randomly triple the price of things then: lol, ESO can finally kick rocks, and I'll just quit. I have this specific cosmetic already, but friends of mine don't and have been waiting for it.

The price hike is deeply insulting if intended, and frankly gets more insulting the longer they refuse to fix it even if it's just an error because they are actively scamming people out of real money the longer it lingers there advertising itself in error. Not everyone is going to realize the error, or submit a ticket once they finally decide to fix it.

@ZOS_Kevin We need word on this ASAP, cause this is not okay if the devs are price-hiking old cosmetics like this.

It wouldn't surprise me, if they increase prices on assassin cosmetics, while there is an thievery-event live...

Anecdotally: I'd posit that the Brassy Assassin personality is the most popular cash-shop personality, and it's not close. It's the one I see the most posts asking about, and the most posts asking for it's return by far.

Without any word from the team: it sure looks like an absolutely soulless cash-grab. Like... grotesque, completely unnecessary levels of Ferengi-esque money-grubbing.

Just a thought: exploiting your players doesn't feel very celebratory for your Anniversary shebang.

Giving away the Sword Singer Redoubt house last year was the one of the only things that has felt "celebratory" from ZoS' "full year of celebration."

Doesn't the price usually decrease over the years? So maybe they meant 350?

    @ZOS_Kevin Yes, please clarify this.

After moving platforms to my former secondary (and newer) one, I'd also been waiting to get it there. When I saw the crime event announced, I was hopeful to finally add it to the roster. And everyone knows how popular it is.
But if this is not a bug, as others have said, this is instead one of those "reevaluate my entire involvement with the game" moments, because this is just egregious and exploitative and says very unfortunate things about how you intend to treat a loyal playerbase from here on out that has certainly not been stingy in supporting the game and is generally very patient with the crown store compared to some other games.
This is an unusually unfortunate move that needs to be rolled back right now.

I find it very ironic that the moto for the crime wave event is "make a dishonest living" and they do that.

@ZOS_GinaBruno We need an answer ASAP because this is simply outrageous. ORSINIUM DLC IS ONLY 3000 CROWNS and it's as big as a chapter. How the hell is a simple cosmetic costing more than a chapter ?!

I had been collecting all the skill styles, but I recently saw one skill style -- just ONE -- was going for 2500 Crowns, and made a quick decision that I will NEVER buy another cosmetic. That's it. I'm out. I took all the alternative styles off my skills. I'm done with it all. And, yes, I'm someone that paid for the red flappy bird, which was "only" 2000, IIRC. It's a bridge too far. I'm DONE. I already have thousands of cosmetics I will never use. They will have to suffice. I am going to take Crown store styles off my characters, and let them run around in stock skins. I'm done being a walking billboard for this kind of thing.

It must have been an error; it was just lowered to 750 Crowns (600 with ESO+).

I thought the old stuff in the crown store had set prices and when it goes back to the store it gets pulled from the database.
But it seems like maybe every item in the store is added manually, because I just can't imagine this "little mistake" where they wanted 3000 crowns instead of 750. Plus, ZoS support should contact the ones who bought it more expensive by themselves that they are giving crowns back and not that the poor people themselves have to contact them.
    Really sorry for my english

I personally hold the opinion that ZOS is capable of being aware of every action they take.

I think that they are "capable of being aware" of every action they take, in the sense that they could be aware of any given action.

I do not consider them to be fully and fulsomely aware of *every* action they take at every moment. And I think this is true of any mind or collection of minds in existence.

    Question.

Would there have been a hotfix " had no one said anything?

Usually when there's an "error" like this, they SAY something. Acknowledge. You know, "Oops! Our bad! Thanks for your patience while we fixed it!" corporate-ese.

Given some of their recent behavior and contention (like the "more money for less content" season pass debacle), it's hard not to see the possibility that they were testing the waters for price hiking old, popular items. Like this personality.

There was uproar and upset on multiple platforms. Silence from the team (as far as I have seen anyway), and a quiet "hotfix" after everyone screamed.

Sure, it could've been an honest error. But if so, why not just say so? People appreciate the communication, and transparency alleviates suspicion.

So. Yeah. I get the raised eyebrow feeling here, too .

EDIT: I did, finally, just now, find a single response from the team buried in a Reddit Thread. That doesn't seem like a terribly helpful place to bury a.) your acknowledgement of the issue, or b.) the solution for anyone who purchased at the incorrect price (i.e. - reach out to Support for a refund). Also worth noting, I think, that that response wasn't even provided on their own platform, after the item in question had been malingering at an inflated price for approximately 6 hours - or, the entire business day EDT - at that point. And they certainly were aware of the problem several hours prior, because there were forum and social media posts about it immediately.

I've been actively following the issue, because I wanted my friend to get this cosmetic while it was available. I checked multiple social media platforms, these official forums, and it was STILL a struggle to find their actual official response to the issue. I'm glad my friend can get it. But wow was this a clusterfetch from start to finish.

I suspect it was an intentional change by one party (call it Sales) to make beaucoup money. But another party (Development or Community Management) didn't know about it, and when they did, put a stop to it.

In some ways, it's both problems - someone 'testing the waters' and someone who actually knows it is a bad idea finding out after the fact and telling them to knock it off.

I don't think it's a mistake in the "everyone is innocent" sense. But I suspect it only got fixed because we raised the issue. So I would encourage folks not to stay silent about such things!

I mean they use spread sheets internally to keep track of pricing, both previous and current. To suggest otherwise would be accusing them of being incompetant which I am most certainly not doing.
