Mage's Fury animation looks really Awkward now

The change in animation on Mages Fury is not good. It seems to be using the sunfire animation and if you were shooting a bolt of lightening straight from your palm towards the target it would look fine. However... currently it kind of looks like I'm waving a wiggly static worm, and then unrelated to my action someone gets struck by lightning, the two separate visuals of lightening do not feel connected or cause-effect like. A push forward horozontal motion doesn't match with a vertical downward resulting action.

And I've got to say the long time 'normal' animation for this skill felt much more powerful, like you are actually calling down lightening from the sky. This new one doesn't feel commanding, it feels awkward. The first time I used it I just felt confused, like what is supposed to be happening here?

If you want to keep the pushing animation instead of the reaching up to the sky one, then Please I beg you get rid of that verticle squiggly lightning line around the character's hand and make that visual at least match the direction of the motion instead of being perpendicular to it.

    Power of the Light has the same animation. Pushes forward rather than upwards like before.

    Was there a dev comment on the notes for these changes? The animations were fine as they were, I wonder why they changed them.

    That one did specifically get a comment - not a dev comment like for the combat changes, but they did talk about the animations.

    From the 11.0.0 notes:
    As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize ESO and improve performance, we revamped player combat to use an additive animation system. Basically, this removes a lot of redundant animation info, creating smaller file sizes that use less memory and drive space. This will allow us to create future content that loads quicker and allows more animations to be played at once, even on computers with modest specs.

    For this task, the animation visuals are virtually indistinguishable from the existing game. The exception are light and heavy melee weapon attacks, which received some minor updates.

    They don’t address any specific animations except for the ‘whiff’ animations being removed and some weirdness with bow/2H heavies. The Mages’ Fury change *might* be a bug, or it might be an unremarked change. Hopefully someone can comment on if it was intended or not.

    Still, we’ve known for a while that they’re pretty well at the animation cap. I’m praying with all of my might that this is designed to claw back some space so we can get a new Class next year instead of just loading more emotes in Crown Crates, but the animation changes did get a comment as to why they’re doing it (unlike the UI abomination changes which just got “we’re making it modern lol”)

    a lot of animations when character have to point his hands or weapon upwards seem to use wrong animation or no animation entierly.

    I saw regenration not playing any animations, siphoning weapon with restro staff not playing any animation.

    Hand forward instead of hand up movement on mages wrath, eclipse, potl.

    also no animation on crushing weapon with lightning staff.

    Had the usual upwards animation for me today on pts.
    Although I only used endless fury. Does this only affect the unmorphed version?

    The problem with the original is you would hit the ability and it wouldn't land for like 500 ms. Since they nerfed it to 2 seconds it should just land instantly and use the old animation.

    This is my favourite part about their comment because it couldn't be farther from the truth. In almost every ability I tried with a delay, it either didn't cast when I pressed it, or happened in a janky way that messed up my rotation, despite having a decent ping of 40-80.

    Fury, Backlash, Shards, Lightning Flood, etc.

    Yeah I haven't wanted to use this skill as a stam sorc since hybridization became a thing because of this exact reason, it's incredibly easy to dodge, especially noticable in melee range, in comparison to prev execute staples like Executioner and Whirling Blades.

    The only people that seriously enjoy Fury sit from 28m+ away and spam the crap out of it.. albeit some people who actually use it as intended to line up burst with Haunting Curse/Meteor/Instant Crystal Frag.

    Sad because for the people spamming it, 2s makes 0 difference, but for the people actually setting up combo's it probably killed the skill entirely.

    Instant Mages Fury please and thank you, I can't believe they had the audacity to nerf it with 0 compensation despite being the weakest execute in the game, while also ignoring Lightning Flood and Boundless Storm, abilities that have been lacking in the line for the longest time.
